As an aside Wimbledon radio (broadcast live on the app) insisted on pronouncing Niland Knee-Land.

Why? Why would they pronounce "i" as "ee"? It's not a normal pronounciation of "i" within the English language. Are they doing this on purpose because it's an Irish name and therefore must be pronounced funny? Perhaps they think it's Irish and there shuold be a fada over the i? Maybe that's how he pronounces it but I doubt it.

Well I'm assuming it's pronounced to rhyme with N-Island as that's how the Mr. Niland, my old geography teacher, pronounced it.

To pronounce it like wing would make the Ni in Niland sound like something knights used to say in Monty Python.

Murray struggling in his first service game. Saved a break point to just about take it. He hasn't ;looked fit all championship imo and on current form doesnt stand a chance against Nadal/Federer/Djokovic.

Eh? Surely it will only be a larger scale version of what we saw with the Irish support out there for Conor Niland last week? Or are you traditionalists who believe in a polite but brief handclap at each break in play and the rest of the time silence? It's really far more fun with a bit of atmosphere.

Backing Djokovic for the title but hoping for 2 epic 5 setters today - with lots of atmosphere in both matches!

No.

There's a massive difference between atmosphere and the mindless stuff some of the Centre Court elite come out with. Whooping deliriously when a player faults (never mind double faulting), pretending they're at a panto if a rally ever breaks out (ooohh, aaahhhh) and as for the "C'mon Tim" cr@p, well even Murray has criticised that!

Nothing against Murray as a player, don't mind him really, but cannot watch him at Wimbledon.

On another note, it'll be nice to see Novak Djokovic on centre court for a change, being this season's form player and incumbent World No. 1 after all!
