McIlroy birdied the last for a 63. Nine under.

The amazing thing was he didn't even have to make that many huge putts cause his approach play was so good.

Peter Hanson @ 100's and Allenby @ 80's.

The 7 places looks great but hey cut this to sh&t by the time they have fella's in tied position, so if you have a 1st, joint 3rd and a joint 4th or 5th, there's every chance that there will not be a 7th spot and the next could be a joint 11th.

Nice marketing coup so be warned.

Yes, but there could be 10 players tied in 6/7th place - so the payout goes far beyond the first 7 players on the leaderboard

if it was to finish as it is now they would have to pay out on 13 players tied for 4th or better. Have ross fisher at 50/1 and he's tied 14th.. Harrington finished 1 over so thats the end of him and mcdowell is 1 over after 1

You are correct, but that is where they apply the draw rules and divide the place pot further, by the number that are tied in that position. In your example they'd be dividing the place pot (which is around a quater the win) by ten.

Don't spend it all in the one shop!!!

The reverse can be true however where you could fare out better with your selection being 7th on their own as opposed to being say, joint second with 2 others where the 1/4 winings would be split again in 3.

Indeed, but they'd be paying out a thirteenth of the place pot.
Take your Ross fisher and bump him up to be the 14th tied. 50/4= 12.5
12.5 /14 = .89

So for €5 e/w your getting your fiver place money and €4.45.

Better than loosing the whole lot granted but there isin't a future in it.

Stick to 2, 2 and 2 on a sunday morning and trust that swing.

Big golfing mate of mine tipped me coltart at 1000/1 on Monday.

Devastated I didn't throw a few quid on. He's 125/1 now, may still be worth it

It's not, Coltart just doesn't have the temperament to compete with the big boys. He lost 3 and 2 to Woods in the '99 Ryder Cup, despite the fact that Woods played poorly, and that was at the peak of his professional career. Both of his European Tour wins (the last of which was 9 years ago) came in tournaments with depleted fields and his best performance in a major championship was a tie for 18th in the Open (11 years ago).

I was much happier taking my 12.5/1 on each way rather than 89 cent..u sure about that? still better than the €6 i lose every sunday morning

Yep, unfortunately.
You'll only get your 12.5/1 on him being 2nd, 3rd, 4th......... 7th on his own. otherwise it's a dead heat and the draw rules apply.

In reality it wouldn't cost them to advertise that they will pay out on the 1st 10 places if they thought that the marketing would drag people away from ladbrokes, chandlers, boyles and all the rest.
