Seating plan may bring unpleasant surprise for fans

Post by sheepshagger »

Football fans who bought tickets for tonight's Ireland match against South American giants Argentina through the Ticketmaster website may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

It has emerged that the seating plan provided on the website for the Aviva Stadium in Ballsbridge, Dublin, was not brought up to date until last night.

Consequently, some fans may find their seats some distance away from where they thought they would be sitting upon buying the tickets.

Some fans who contacted the Irish Independent said seats purchased for last week's match between an Airtricity League XI and Manchester United were as much as 10 to 20 metres away from the spot indicated on the graphic.

In some cases, seats that were shown to be alongside the edge of the 18-yard line on the graphic were in fact situated in the corner behind the goal.

A spokesman for Ticketmaster last night said they had received no complaints in relation to the chart.

After being informed of the problem by the Irish Independent, Ticketmaster removed the original seating plan and a new "more precise" chart was uploaded to the website.

"We did set up the plan with a warning that seating charts reflect the general layout for the venue at the time," he said.

"It was an early map of the stadium but now a fuller map is in place and everything is accurate."

A capacity crowd of 50,000 people is expected for a game that is likely to feature many of Argentina's stars from this summer's World Cup.

Captain Robbie Keane will win an historic 100th cap for Ireland when he leads the team out for their first match in the new €400m stadium.
