Re: Jim Stynes passes away
I'm the same age as Big Jim and it makes it for me far more poignant that he is sadly gone now. I always followed his career down under with fascination and admiration back in the day when the Indo wasn't a rag. His contribution to Melbournian and Victorian life both on and off the pitch is inspirational, that he is one of us makes it doubly so. He may have gone early but his was a life fulfilled in every conceivable manner. A great Irishman and Australian... RIP Jim.
Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even. Muhammad Ali

Lovely tribute to him on the big screen in Croker tonight between the Hurling & Football games.....spontaneous standing ovation from the entire crowd as well, proper recognition for a great man.
We all dream of a team of Sean O'Briens......
