Haye v Chisora

Post by cwebber82 »

Anybody got any thoughts on this fight? Seems to be a genuine old fashioned grudge match.

Two braindead scumbags. Should arm them with chains and broken bottles and let them fight down a dark alley. That's about the level of this.

It's really annoying how big this pantomime is. 40,000 expected to attend. Especially irritating is that the winner is likely to get a shot at one of the Kiltschkos while hard working heavyweights like Tyson Fury (19-0) who beat Chisora to win the British and Commonwealth titles and current holder of those titles, David Price (13-0) are still several fights away from a world title shot.

The only upside is that neither Chisora nor Haye will trouble either Klitschko so the circus will be over soon enough. Hopefully this fight and the follow up with a Klitschko will give BoxNation enough money to keep going for another year or so.

I really cant understand the hostility towards David Haye. Granted he called Klitschko out for three years, didn't perform on the night and then blamed his little toe. Cringe. However he was genuine world class cruiserweight who cleaned up the division before moving up to heavyweight. Even in the non fight against Klitschko he took a couple right hands which would have flattened most bigger heavyweights.

As regards the brawl with Chisora in Munich, Haye was just doing his usual thing of trying to talk his way into a fight with Vitali Klitschko. Not everyone's cup of tea but harmless enough. Chisora, who has a history of biting opponents and criminal convictions outside the ring, walks down towards Haye with his entourage in tow, takes off his jacket and squares up to Haye. Whats Haye supposed to do? Delighted he chined Chisora.

Disagree with Donny about Haye being a scumbag. For all Haye's mouthing he has never been in trouble outside the ring and generally knows where the line is when promoting a fight. Chisora certainly is a scumbag. Hope Haye knocks this woman beating, opponent biting, slapping and spitting tw@t spark out.

How about not glass him?

If somone squares up to you on the street and you respond by smashing a bottle over their head the gardaí and courts probably won't see that as having been your only option.

And yet he glassed a guy. I don't know anyone who would glass somebody and not be considered a scumbag. It's not as if Haye doesn't know how to fight and that includes slipping, rolling and parrying punches so I'd be fairly confident that he could have avoided a jab from Chisora. If he wanted to promote the fight he could have gone forehead to forehead until people stepped in between them which would certainly have happened.

This is a fight between a guy who lost three of his last four fights (admittedly one was a dodgy decision) and a guy who's been retired since he lost his last fight a year ago. It's only a big deal because of the out of the ring scumbaggery in Munich. It's not as if it's two guys at the height of their prowess finally deciding which of them will be the one to get the shot at the title. It's not Floyd V Pac. It's not Bellew V Cleverly. It's not Price V Fury. It's not even Joe Rae V Anthony Fitzgerald. It's Loser V Hasbeen and yet it's somehow for both the WBA Intercontinental and WBO Heavyweight International titles which is just highlighting how messed up this game really is.

Rubbish Broken Wing. If you decide to aggressively invade someone's personal space then that person has the right to defend him/herself.

As for he "glassed a guy", you are just repeating what Chisora started mouthing off with. Haye was drinking from a bottle of fruit juice at the time. What's he supposed to do? "Sorry fo one moment while I put down my bottle"...the glass bottle didn't even break. If it did Chisora would have been cut.

Agree that this fight would never have happened without the Munich nonsense but professional boxing died a long time ago. The Pacquiao v Bradley decision just confirmed what a rotten sport it is.

If you aggressively invade someone's personal space then they have the right to defend themselves using reasonable force. Smacking someone with a glass bottle isn't reasonable force when all they're doing is standing too close for comfort.

So because the glass bottle that Haye hit Chisora with didn't smash it was all perfectly OK? He didn't have to put the bottle down as last time I checked he had two hands so he could have put his free hand on Chisora's chest and pushed him away, making it clear that he was not looking for trouble. Of course he could also have up his hands up in a placating manner (what many self defence people refer to as a fence) and backed away but that would never promote the fight.

All that said I hope Haye wins it.

Haye's a toerag too. "Invading personal space" justifies hitting someone with a bottle? Right......

He's a mouthy, over-rated, sham of a fighter. Sure he cleaned up at cruiserweight, a division hardly anyone decent fights in, cause they all try to move up to heavyweight. Does anyone know who the current cruiserweight World Champion is? Does anyone care?

His heavyweight career was a joke, beating a few nobodies before Klitschco put him in his place without hardly breaking sweat. Hayemaker my arse!

Hopefully these pair of bums will knock each other out simultaneously and it pisses rain on the gullible idiots and lowlifes who turn up to watch.

Great performance by Haye last night. Very professional. Chisora came in the best shape he has been in for some time and Haye took him out clean. Vitali Klitschko didn't even wobble Chisora. Haye must really regret his non performance against Wladimir Klitschko now.

Donny, what exactly is a "lowlife"? U must have a great view in that high horse of yours. Keep the snobby, superior language off this website. Don't want us humble Leinster fans getting a bad name.

Hope you enjoyed your pantomime.

Perhaps there's some dog-fighting on next week that you might enjoy?

Vitali was fighting one handed having injured his left shoulder early on. That meant he couldn't use his jab which is a massive loss for a guy with that sort of reach. Even with an extra hand Chisora didn't trouble him at all.

In more meaningful boxing news Limerick's Willie "Big Bang" Casey picked up the WBA European title in Sunderland last night.
