Yeah that'll be a nice wedge he picks up for 9 months work alright. Appointing Ferguson as a director was a mistake, appointing Moyes as manager was a mistake, and then giving him a 6 year deal was a mistake. This is not going to end well :(

Its certainly a gamble but I wouldn't be so quick to write it off as a mistake. The club obviously wants long term stability over someone like Mourinho who would probably win but he doesn't seem to stay anywhere more than 3 or 4 years. Utd have had the same manager for over 1/4 of a century so I can see why putting in someone who they see as being there long term would appeal to them. But it is a gamble.

In fairness to Moyes, every time (over the past few seasons) Fergie's retirement was considered, Moyes' name was at or towards the top of the list of potential replacements. It's almost been a done deal for years. Clearly someone somewhere saw, and continues to see, in him the qualities that club looks for as a manager. The only other name I can remember being seriously linked with that position was Guardiola - and he's already thrown his lot in with Bayern.

That someone is Fergie! Moyes is Ferguson's choice.

Massive pay-off when they sack him too. :D
Alan Pardew Last Prem manager to get such a long contract and his season has gone really well

Biggest problem will be Ferguson's Shadow and will he be able to contain his own ego and restrain himself if things don't go as expected early on!!

Moyes will rightly be stubborn and insist on taking his own path but will be fun to watch - FACT!!
