I take that back unreservedly
How in God's name has Casillas stayed as number one , I'm a big fan of his but his control of the box is non existent. Diego Lopez, Reina & De Gea must be wondering what they have to do.

And tbh this isn't a great Dutch team. I certainly wouldn't be sh!tt!ng myself looking at their midfield. DeJong and De Guzman are both average or in the case of Sneijder in his twilight and certainly not someone you'd take to the trenches with you. Daley Blind looks a solid & comfortable full back and in another 4yrs their current back four could be seriously good.

Not the greatest of Dutch teams, but if Robben plays like that throughout the tournament they could do something. Despite the Beeb giving motm to Blind, I thought Robben was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch

Two of the most underrated players in the EPL face off now, Gary Medel v Mile Jedinak

The fun and games continue in Brazil. I had Germany to beat Portugal - but I thought they'd scrape it by the odd goal. I wonder how much Ronaldo will whinge after that performance? Still no draws - making this a terrifically exciting tournament thus far.

I got Argentina in the pub sweepstake - a piece of rare fortune - so I;ll be keeping an eye on them. I thought they made heavy weather of beating Bosnia last night - without ever really being in too much danger. Messi's "winner" was a peach. Obviously the half time tactical switch made all the difference. That should be the hard work done in the group

I have to say it appears wide open after the first round of games is nearly over. Looking forward to see how Belgium go tomorrow....very difficult to call a winner as no side has looked invincible(yes, despite clearcut wins for the Dutch & Germans)...a couple of real shocks already and we're only 4-5 days into it.
We all dream of a team of Sean O'Briens......

They're struggling with the sound in the studio. Dunphy just caught swearing live as he didn't know they were back on air - the camera angle was funny, so I have some sympathy for him. All that before the watershed. Tsk tsk

Kick-off times are brutal for me. 1am, 4am and 7am. Nothing kills a world cup like watching Brazil and Mexico at 4am.

Bill O'Herlihy certainly doesn't seem to be one for a changing of the guard or the underdogs, telling us how horribly sad it was to see Spain's dominance over. While Chile weren't perfect, but that was an absolutely sublime first goal for which they didn't get enough credit.

2 super goals from Suarez - the first, in particular, was a peach. The feint to shoot by Cavani allowing Suarez to peel off his man, and then the perfect pass followed by a perfect header - guiding it across the keeper into the net. A beaut if I ever saw one. Uruguay full value for their win today.

As a matter of interest, what is the procedure for determining qualification in the event of teams finishing on the same points total? Is it goal difference followed by goals scored, or does the head-to-head record break the tie first?
