as a warning once you been to the match there is pretty much nothing else in Gloucester but the Cathedral! and that will not fill a weekend - and it gets shut if they are filming Harry Potter! Birmingham can fill a weekend, plenty to see and do and for £4.50 you can get unlimited travel on the bus and trains within the West Midlands region!
once your flights are sorted you can get a cheap day return for about £15 from Birmingham
Birmingham is 40mins from Gloucester
But the Longford Hotel is 10 minutes from the ground, it does food and sells Wadworth's 6X - I can't think what else is needed :?

Great to see you guys booking up. The Longford Inn is a nice enough place, it's a travel inn/lodge whatever, so is as expected. It's a good location, there's nothing wrong with Longford as a place either, the Queens Head pub, which is the other side of the A40 roundabout (a 2 minute walk) does REALLY good food, the Longford Lamb is to be recommended, it's HUGE!
The opposite direction takes you into the city via the ground, only a ten minute walk into the heart of the city. There are loads of great bars/pubs and enough night clubs to keep you entertained.
I have been speaking to the management of our 24hr bar, Cafe Rene, and they hope to have a rugby bar opened in their cellar from the start of this season. It will be open to 5am on friday and saturday nights and should be rammed full of home and away fans. They do loads of great food, real ales and traditional ciders.
I would stay in Gloucester for the whole weekend if I were you, but if you do go for 'nam (as we Gloucester folk refer to Cheltenham) then the travelodge on Hatherly Lane/Golden Valley is a good bet. It's only a £10 taxi from both Gloucester and 'nam, and on the 94 bus routes to each to (they run from early until 2am).

Any extra info required then let just ask, email or pm me.

The george cross is the Nuffield Hospital, a private BUPA hospital that's next door to the Longford Inn. The rugby ground is obviously the green rectangle.

And I'd make sure you bring one of those European Health Insurance Card things with you. It won't cost you anything to get your stomach pumped then. (not that I'm suggesting that you would need it done. I'm just saying...)
