Fly to London and get a train or share a rental car is probably your bet bet right now...if money isn't a problem try one of the charters.

Wondering if it may be an option to set up a facility for those who may have a spare seat going over to advertise said spare seats?

Which boat? Left my mate over in Leeds with specific instructions to book seats on a particular train/ferry combo, I hope for his sake that he has booked them.Darce wrote:Fock it

While I havent checked, I'm sure you could get a train to somewhere in England (Birmingham?) and change to get to Cardiff. Try http://www.thetrainline.co.uk for potential trains.
There are direct trains from Holyhead to Cardiff. Check the above timetable link.

Re: Not wanting to tempt fate, have you made any Cardiff plan
hey,
I'm on these flights:
GOING OUT
From Dublin(DUB) to Bristol(BRS)
Fri, 20/05/2011 Flight 506 Depart DUB at 1635 and arrive BRS at 1735
COMING BACK
From Bristol(BRS) to Dublin(DUB)
Sun, 22/05/2011 Flight 505 Depart BRS at 1055 and arrive DUB at 1150
I have booked a car and will be driving to/from Swansea from the airport, have a few spare seats if anybody is interested in splitting the petrol bill. (obviously would swing by cardiff if required to drop/pick up)
PM me if you interested.

I'm thinking of getting the Rosslare-Fishguard ferry and driving. Just myself traveling so would have room if folk are interested.

So what's the current thinking on the best way to get over. Tickets look to be sorted, haven't a bejaysus how to get there though.
Re: Not wanting to tempt fate, have you made any Cardiff plan
I wonder if there are a few folks over in Shelbyville who may have booked flights/ferries but are now all dressed up with nowhere to go to?
Just an idea

Had a look at a few airlines on the web today. Heres the best value to date.
Flybe Dublin - Exeter on Friday 20/5/11
Return Exexter - Dublin on Sunday 22/5/11
Cost cEUR180 per person.
Exeter is approximately 90 kms from Cardiff (up M6 and then M4)
Its a route not many would think of.
As for hotels, keep looking at the various accomodation sites www.laterooms.com etc, there are sure to be rooms that come available from our Muntser bretheren.

Excellent info on the flight Dublin - Exeter , .. WWW.flybe.com 180 / head ... Get it quick
Re: Not wanting to tempt fate, have you made any Cardiff plan
It's still cheaper to fly to gatwick/stanstead (around €160 return fri-sun) and less time on train - 2 hours (£32 one way) from paddington with no changeovers.
