OLSC top travel tips to Montpellier & Bath...

Post by OLSC Committee »

With the first set of Heineken Cup fixtures released Leinster supporters will be keen to start planning. To this end the OLSC have prepared the following information...

Montpellier:

Unfortunately a number of routes from Ireland and the UK only operate during the summer months so this will be a little harder to get to, there are no direct scheduled flights from Dublin however some options include

Carcasonne (Ryanair) – 2 hours away by train, rail tickets are from €24 each way

Paris (Aer Lingus, Ryanair, Cityjet) - 3.5 hrs away by train, rail tickets are from €35 each way or you could take a connecting flight to Montpellier with Air France.

Note that if using Ryanair the airport is 75 mins away on a bus from central Paris.

Barcelona (Ryanair, Aer Lingus) – depending on which airport you fly to it’s approximately 300kms drive to Montpelier.

Information and rail tickets can be found at http://www.tgv-europe.com

If you wish to hire a rental car we would suggest http://www.arguscarhire.ie

From the UK

Montpellier– Easyjet fly from London Gatwick

Nimes(Ryanair) - 30 mins away by train, flights via London Luton

Beziers (Ryanair) – 1 hr away by train, flights via London Luton

ParisCDG – Easyjet fly from Belfast, 3.5 hrs away by train, rail tickets are from €35 each way or you could take a connecting flight to Montpellier with Air France.

Please note that if you are booking two separate flights (with the likes of Ryanair/Easyjet) to make sure that you have enough time to connect, if you are late/delayed (and miss a flight) you will need to book new ones at what are likely to be expensive prices.

Accommodation:

Visit http://www.accorhotels.com for options across a number of locations/price ranges.

Bath:

The closest airport is Bristol (32 kms away) served by both Ryanair and Aer Lingus.

Subject to cost and demand the OLSC may operate transfer buses from Bristol airport direct to/from Bath city centre, to register your interest please e-mail your inbound and outbound flight details and how many seats you would require to olsc 'at' leinsterrugby.ie

Trains can also be used (in conjunction with the flyer bus from the airport to Bristol Temple Meads), details and tickets can be found at http://www.thetrainline.co.uk

Southampton is 87kms from Bath (http://www.flybe.com), Cardiff is 112kms away (Aer Lingus), whilst both Ryanair and Aer Lingus serve Birmingham (172kms), London is further away (185kms).

Accommodation:

Bath accommodation is already expensive given it is an event weekend, for options visit http://www.booking.com. Other budget options can be found at http://www.hostelworld.com

Supporters may wish to consider nearby Bristol for places to stay, the last train leaves Bath Spa station just after 2am on Sunday morning and 1am on Monday morning, it is 25 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads.

Charter Options:

Joe Walsh Tours, official travel partner to Leinster Rugby, will be running charter packages for these games (including the team flight where there may be seats available for supporters). Visit http://www.joewalshtours.ie/action/Sports for details.

Additional scheduled services:

We are in discussions with scheduled airlines to see if additional capacity can be added where possible.

Away guide:

An away guide with all the information you need for Montpellier and Bath will be published on this website the week of each fixture, this will include the supporters HQ for each game.

Latest Information:

The OLSC Committee are volunteers however we will be posting updated travel information as frequently as possible, the first place to see this will be via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
