best way on public transport is stansted express to Liverpool St (costs about £25, takes 45-50 mins) - then I would walk to Bank station (5 mins) and get the Waterloo & City line straight to Waterloo, from there a single to Twickenham (about 25 mins) costs about £8.

(btw the W&C line shuts at about 2145 during the week and 1830 on Saturday, and doesn't run on Sunday)

The cheaper version is a trip on the overground to tottenham hale, and then the tube from there. Always found the stansted express to be horrendously overpriced for the twenty minutes or so you save.
