I was looking at that originally but staying in Nice for the Munster match now. From Memory if you type in St Augustin the website will give you a few options as to which station you mean, then just select St Augustin Nice. Don't think the train is very frequent thoughsid wrote:Back on topic, I was trying to book a train from Saint Augustin to Toulon on the SNCF website, but only one station in Nice seems to appear. Is it actually possible to get a direct train or do I have to go to the city centre?

Where are people thinking of catching the Munster match in Nice?

Ma Nolans Vieux Nice. (There are 2 Ma Nolans)
Bus from the airport leaves you round the corner. There is a 98 bus for 6 bucks or a 23 for 1.50

Cool, thanks. Might just rock up and head into Nice if the wait is too long for a train to Toulon.waterboy wrote: I was looking at that originally but staying in Nice for the Munster match now. The cheapo number 23 1.50 bus goes to the train station. The number 98 over the top 6 juro bus is better for Ma Nolans.
Re: Getting to Toulon ?.
Hi everyone,
Just a quick message to everyone getting to Toulon this weekend.
I'm a Toulon Fan who used to live in Ireland (studied in UCD actually). I'm back in Toulon at the moment and I'd be glad to be as helpful as everyone was with me when I was living there. So if you need any advice, have any question on any topic (hotel, cars, places to see, etc.), message me and I'll be delighted to help.
P.S.: Because I know what you'll need anyway, let me just say a quick work about where to get nice and fresh beverages that'll certainly be needed to avoid overthinking about Matthieu Bastareaud at night.
Bad news is Toulon is no Dublin on that topic, but you'll always be able to find what you need.
- Right next to the stadium, there are a couple of bars ("La Banane Café where you'll be served by a former Toulon Player, nicknamed the Indian; and "le Corsaire"). THese are the places where true Toulon supporters come before games. Cheap drinks and good atmosphere before games in general but quieter in the evening.
- In front of the stadium, you'll also find the port with numerous café. Same here, very busy aroung game time, a little less before or after.
- During the evenings, people tend to go in a neighborhood called "Le Mourillon" by the sea. You'll first find two bars that are usually quite crowded during weekends : Old Coucou and Bar A Thym. My personal favorites here. And if you continue along the coast you'll arrive the beach (also named Mourrillon) where you have several restaurants and bars on the beach. Don't forget it's 20 degrees, few people go to beach yet here.
- Toulon also organizes a "Bodega" during this weekend, right beside the Stadium near RCT Café. Meaning stands serving beers, foods, etc. plus animation of any kind.
This was a quick word. Hope you'll enjoy your weekend. And again, I'd be happy to help anyone of you coming here. Don't hesitate to message me, and I'll give you my contacts here if needed.
Cheers
Maxime

Thanks Maxime. Can't wait.

Weird price differential, I presume the 98 is a shuttle of some kind?johng wrote:Ma Nolans Vieux Nice. (There are 2 Ma Nolans)

Think of it as the aircoach and the number 16 bus.
The expensive one leaves you at the pub the cheap on at the train station.

Will pay the extra so. 6 is still cheap compared to a taxi anywayjohng wrote:Think of it as the aircoach and the number 16 bus.

Yup. Even 4 in a taxi could cost more than 24. could be less too.Donny B. wrote:Will pay the extra so. 6 is still cheap compared to a taxi anywayjohng wrote:Think of it as the aircoach and the number 16 bus.

Although a 1 KM walk through central Nice could be... well... nice.

Hi Maxime. I just hope that Bastareaud gets some sleep and does not have too many nightmares about Brian O'Driscoll

Well, if he had a light breakfast, he can just eat him. That'd settle everything.Gonzo wrote:Hi Maxime. I just hope that Bastareaud gets some sleep and does not have too many nightmares about Brian O'Driscoll
Bonus: This is the kind of atmosphere Leicester got last year, and you'll certainly taste something similar; huge game for us and last game home this season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61d21oWtcI8
