Talking to a guy in the Murrayfield before hand and he said that he turns 60 soon so will be able to buy tickets at the concession price of £5. Presume the same is true for kids. Could well be to do with early purchase as well.
Presume it's BW's first explanation .. they offer concession rate on any ticket type (i.e. not restricted to one block/section), so they need to tally ticket counts with sales .. so if you got the concession rate your adult stub was ripped off (and hence would never appear in the stile count).
