Who would buy a book by Rob Andrew anyway? I can't really see it being a bestseller.

I hope you're right, but I suppose we're even talking about it on here and those kind of books end up being stocking fillers.nc6000 wrote:Who would buy a book by Rob Andrew anyway? I can't really see it being a bestseller.
I checked twitter to see the response to comments earlier in the week and I honestly don't think I've ever seen anyone universally hated like he seems to be. Admittedly it's on a very small scale but every single post was negative...and the most commonly used words were "snake" and "Teflon Rob". Trump, Weinstein, and Hook all have/had some semblance of support, but not this guy!

It'll do well. He was a massively successful player, set loads of records for England, was one of the first professionals - both de facto and de jure, held a bunch of significant administrative posts and played first class cricket.nc6000 wrote:Who would buy a book by Rob Andrew anyway? He may be a cad and a bounder, but he is an important figure in recent rugby history and politics

Won't be a good comparison though.Dave Cahill wrote:Lets hope we have the chance to make that point about his successorscurates_egg wrote:Declan Kidney won the Grand Slam with Ireland.blockhead wrote:MOC was the last Leinster coach to bring us home a trophy.

He took over an amazing group of players and ran them into the ground (after that 6 Nations).
Our backline today was all under 25 (Isa's cameo excepted).
The starting pack, minus Dev, the same, no?

The top name flying around to replace Jim Mallinder who was sacked today by Northampton is one half of our very own Lancullen.
How long is his contract until?
What get-out clauses does he have?
I guess the main carrot for keeping him around would be replacing Joe in 2019.

Would he not like to complete his mission with us first - i.e. help us win a Pro 14 or ERCC title?
Re: Stuart Lancaster joining Leinster
Would he want to leave a successful project as it starts looking like bearing real fruit in favour of a gig that may in many respects be a poisoned chalice? Northampton aren't investing in the way most English clubs are so he'll have one hand tied behind his back from the start.curates_egg wrote:The top name flying around to replace Jim Mallinder who was sacked today by Northampton is one half of our very own Lancullen.

The media always latch onto certain names though regardless of how realistic the ideas are. He's already been linked with gigs over there and will continue to be because he's going well here now. I reckon he'll stick around for the moment. He seems more than happy here.

I'd say the more Mr. Lancaster sees/hears of the PRL and RFU from these shores the more content he is with his decision to take a full time role at Leinster.

Re: Stuart Lancaster joining Leinster
Lancaster is contracted for this season and next, he is unlikely to move as is, that just adds a further pain if (for some strange reason) he would want to.

Has he ever won anything?
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Re: Stuart Lancaster joining Leinster
Can't see him moving to Northampton. They lack the budget and prospects of success of the bigger Prem teams. He's contracted here to 2019 and mid-season is never a good time to leave, especially when we look so good...Unless they got an interim coach to finish this season and he took over ahead of the 2018-19 season. Northampton is in the south Midlands off the top of my head, not close to his family in Leeds (indeed he's made the point that flying to Leeds from Dublin is faster, cheaper and more convenient than going by train or car from the locations of most of the English premiership clubs)...so the 'being close to family' factor doesn't really apply.

He's on Off The Ball tonight. I will listen in. I hope they ask him about his future.
