The Leinster Player Charity - Developing Irish Rugby

Post by [Jackass] »

I'd like to compliment the Leinster branch on the charity work they have been doing over the last while to ensure our cousins nationwide are not short of players at any point (and further a field)

Having packed off the likes of Brennan (major part in winning 2 HECs), Cullen & Jennings (lucky to get them back), Casey etc. etc. these were all players that either would have been or are major players in the first 15. But that was all a long time ago.

It's nice to see we are now not waising our time benefiting from these players development using our resources and are allowing the other provinces to benefit from our years of work.

Our poor southern cousins will be happy to know when possibly lifting their 3rd HEC in 4 years that we are helping them out as Neil Ronan & Felix Jones tog out for them regularly next season. It's also nice to know that our scrum half dilema is no cause for concern and we want to make sure our northern friends are well catered for by sending them up Willis. And as for the Westies...well who needs youth when we can sign Nacewa and pay big bucks and ship off all of these players and start him at 10, they can have Keatley, now rumoured to be in the sights to train as Ronan O'Garas under study and future Irish No.10 on the departure of Warwick to LI (which will go ahead). Of course they're welcome to have Carr too...another big academy name with absolutely no progress into the senior game. Not good enough for Leinster, but all (for the most part) seem to excell at the exact same level in a different colour jersey.

I'm ashamed to say we didn't release Fitzgerald to Munster as intended previously, but with them walking the HEC for the foreseable future, it's nice to know Leinster rugby is a stepping stone to greater things and our most promising academy players are available on request. Warms the heart. Why would you give young players game time when whipper snappers and form players such as Horgan, Nacewa & Dempsey can take up squad time - they're the future!!
