I liked Matty ...

Listen I would prefer him and Gaffer taking over from EOS and O'Donovan.

Matt Williams should be brought in as backs coach to Ireland.

He certainly is Blue, and if he keeps up the vein of form he's in he could make the Lansdowne J2 bench....possibly.....

You can say what you like about Matt Williams but he understood the players at Leinster - he knew what they were capable of and he knew how to get them to play a particularly ambitious style of rugby. If it wasn't for Spooner's injury, he'd probably have a European Cup under his belt as well.

Maybe.....if he'd picked Spooner instead of Bommer.....and if Bommer hadn't missed all those kicks.....and if his squad didn't have fights in bars.....

If he hadn't been so mean to poor ol Flasher Gordon, although D'arce was a pain in the arse then, the gold boots, the blue mohawk....the southsider thing...not being able to catch a cold...might have had something to do with it!

And he played Flash in his natural position - and had Horgan and BOD in a great centreship pairing. If only Bommer's place kicking had been better, if only.

The facts remain that we lost the game due to something that was entirely within Williams' ability to change.

And If he hadn't picked Nathan Spooner for the Leicester match at Welford Road in January 2002, and persisted in keeping him on the pitch when the guy could barely walk...

And if he hadn't caused so much aggro that his players were brawling in bars...

And if he wasn't such a PR/Media Wh*re that he is now completely discredited in the Northern Hemisphere, never mind at Leinster...

Didn't need to, all he needed to do was slot easy kicks.....

Seriously though, he was fit at the time if memory serves......wasn't he on the bench that day?

Spooner was on the bench, but he was clearly unfit.

He was fit. Fit enough to be involved in a "training ground bust-up" with the coach the previous week

Nope, he wasn't, Duff. He was out of favour with Blonde Tanned Matty. Imagine what might have been...
