Leinster v's Brive - Match Thread

Postby Slipper1 » January 16th, 2010, 4:32 pm

Its a beautiful day here in the RDS with the sun shining, but the light breeze is making things a little chilly. The pitch looks none the worse for wear after the last few weeks of bad weather, dead ball and touchline areas are very wet, presuming the same goes for the rest of the pitch..

All in all a great day for a maych, there are still tickets available and the ticketmaster vans are set up in their usual spots outside the ground.

Things are very busy around the RDS with not only the rugby, but a very full Young Scientist exhibition taking place, parking is at a premium so look at taking the bus, dart or a taxi.
Get in the f%~king bag.

The little kicks and knocks don't matter and never have, it's the eye watering desire, the throat choking passion, the burning will, the selfishness and the sheer bloody mindedness that lifts you above the rest and places you in the realm of champions.

Painfully rusty thus far but huge scrum results in pen try. Well done pack. Respect.

Lets kick on from here and win this!

Very rusty alight put understandable in the recent circumstances. presumably they'll be much better next week with a tough game under their belt.
They did what they had to do.

I wouldn't write LI blinking tomorrow against scarlets. There's nothing like points on the board. the BP may be very important if they get past LI

Job well done

Seriously rusty performance. Reddan - sometimes you can see him thinking really hard about what he's going to do next, and this was one of those days for him. He's played well recently but this was poor, very ponderous. SOB looked great when he came on.

Just back from game. Can anyone who saw it tell me what this supposed dive from Darcy is all about?

When he chipped through running into the 22 and the Brive player was adjudged to have brought him down. Minimal contact and D'Arce made the most of it. We got the penalty from where the ball landed. Hardly a match decider though.

Was only watching online but looked like a big, fat dive from Darce for the pen in the first half. Defender stepped aside and didn't impede him in any way.

Will have to watch the replay now to get a proper look.

Have seen it several times. (Bad back sent missus and kids to the match. Resting up for the trip next week)
Defenders hand caught Darce. To be fair to him he may just have slipped. Did make the most of it though

Hmmm... My guess is that the high & mighty Munster folks I met think that when Quinlan does it, he is a hero.

SOB should start next week based on that. Rusty display, but did enough. No complaints.

I'd have O'Brien back for next week after that. I admire Jenno hugely, but he wasn't quite there tonight.

Our lineout was a bit of a worry. Scrum was great - until our world cup winning South African prop came on.

BOD didn't look at the races, and yet he managed to score the crucial bonus point try.

Sexton had a little touch of white line fever (as did Kearney) but ran some great ball and a good game overall for someone out that long.

Sorry guys, much as I'd like to humour you, the truth is going to hurt.

Firstly, D'arce did a Michael Phelps, probably would have gained 0.02 of a second over the Olympic hero.

As for the rest Whinester were pathetic. Bonus point yes, against a team that would make Albi shine

I hope they can improve & wish them a semi as a minimum & am aware of the lack of game time etc etc but there is still no excuse.

That Brive team were, are & will be pure & utter shite, even the French will tell you that ( I know, its where I live) & Leinsters perf was hopeless.

Pray that's its just a hiccup & the boys will get things together for next week :(

Theres a very very good chance the loser of LI v Leinster will go to TP in the QFs, assuming Munster win next Friday.
