Connacht Game

Post by apple sourz »

I know everybody is excited about Toulouse (and quite rightly so) but let's not forget that we also have a game next Sunday against Connacht. It is imperative that give the team a massive we send off for Toulouse and get behind them from the very start.

Even though I won't be there myself, I fully expect that the choir practise for Molly Malone and You are my Girvan will go off without a hitch. I'll make arrangements for the bodhrans during the week.

Yeah we need to reclaim Molly Malone. Brought a tear to the eye when I heard it in the RDS a while ago. That's our song.

Molly Malone

Post by fungalboy »

Simple as this, Molly Malone is Leinster's song.

Everybody, including any first timers at a rugby match, knows the words.

It's easy to sing.

It's a song about somewhere that's actually in the provience we support.

Forigners associate it with Ireland.

I remember it being an Irish terrace favourite in the late eighties/early nineties (whene ther wasn't much to sing about...)

We will work on other songs (NB The Girve Song) but we have to make MM our signature tune, not by playing it over the PA but by sining it from the terraces.

Let's pick up where we left off in Bath...
"They play a running game, we play a running game..." Sky Sports Two 23/1/06
"There is only one Girve the Swerve..." Sky Sports Two 31/3/06
"What disappointment? We did everything we could do tonight..." Newstalk 106 26/5/06

She died of a fever and no one could save her - how could she be a Southsider if she was exposed to infectious diseases and had no access to private healthcare?

So while our Munster cousins warble happily about an illicit purloiner of farm produce, the Leinster song should commerate a common prostitute?

She's not our cousin so the song is acceptable.
