Less lauded, less appreciated by the Irish public at large, more successful, more decorated, less "sung" than winners of "unsung hero" awards. It's a shame to see him retire right when he had worked his step and sprint into a lethal attacking weapon, though he leaves an understudy in full bloom (and copying his patented step).

If he says he's not coaching, he's not coaching. I join everyone here in wishing him every success in his future endeavours, a real hero of Irish and Leinster rugby.
Mike joined us in 2009/2010 season so he only played in last 2 European cups but we wouldn't have won them without him..[/quote]

Mike was playing for Harlequins in the Bloodgate match in '09 so perhaps he's giving him some credit for our first cup?

the OTB podcast is up as an interview

On coaching v civilian life we also have to take into account he is probably on far more money working for Wizuda than he would get as non senior scrum coach, and he does have a family

That's class.

Whilst it might highlight the danger of reading into these compilation videos, people don't really respect his ball carrying enough. Seldom went backwards and seldom didn't lead to another phase. Seldom made a line break too though admittedly! But that's not what he was there to do.

The music too. Class.

That's a brilliant bit of business if it works out and why wouldn't it?
It also means that if and when Greg Feek decides to move on we may have a high quality replacement ready to step in.
Now all we need is Joe Schmidt V2.0.

Yeah hope it goes well. Could be an easier testing the coahing waters for him and or the part time nature is what suits him

Don't get your hopes up.

Since hanging up his boots after a decorated playing career which saw him win 61 Ireland caps and 151 appearances for Leinster, Ross took up a position with Dublin-based technology firm Wizuda, but has remained in touch with rugby through a player/coach role with Malahide RFC and a mentoring role with some of Leinster’s age-grade forwards.

While his new day job demands the majority of his working week, the 38-year-old was happy to accept the invitation from the IRFU as he sees it as an opportunity to impart some of his vast knowledge and experience to the next generation of players.

“I can give them the time where I have it and it’s quite doable as they don’t take many people to away games,” he explains.

“I don’t want to do it full time, though. Because the thing about professional coaching is that your general life expectancy in a job is four years so you live a nomadic lifestyle.

Would be great to keep him involved on part time basies as an extra voice for younger players.
