It's not rocket science

Post by Uncle Mort »

On a day when the lineout is not functioning and you are losing ball on your own throw, going for the '7 pointer' from a penalty inside the 22 is a really stupid thing to do - particularly when the opposition have more points that you.

The only explanation can be that the pictch is in such a dreadful state that one of the current best international goal kickers is not confident that his standing foot will hold on the surface and so do him an injury - if this was the case - should the match have been played?

Well, I don't think it was the pitch that was worrying Felipe. Was watching him take his practice kicks and he was getting annoyed with his kicking. He was obviously carrying a knock as he was leaving all the kicking to touch to Hicke and the Swerve and the kicks he did attempt, he didn't reach touch.

The commentry team on Setanta seemed to think that it was because the line out was functioning so badly that it was decided to go for touch as much as possible in order to get the lineout working under competitive conditions :?:

That doesn't make much sense does it? We needed to win that game with a bonus point. The way the land lies at the moment we could end up next year in a group with Stade and the Tigers!!!

Its ridiculous though, our lineout should be a major strength - with Williams, Mal, Eric and Jowitt in there we should be cleaning up..... :?

Makes no sense what so ever but it was setanta so that's to be expected
If the tigers aren't even good enough to get into the anglo-welsh cup final I wouldn't worry too much about them

Leinster were quite fortunate to get any result to be honest.

Flash, only the top seeds get separated from each other. After that it's an open draw. So whether we finish 2nd or 3rd makes no difference. 1st seeds isn't that good anymore either because of the new draw as invariably the English and French top seeds don't perform as well the following season so it's nearly better to get them.

The ERC like to give MUnster and Leinster favorable draws, we make the most money for them
