Re: Rumour Mill
Personally I'd like to see us getting an Irish second row in - McCarthy would be the man.
Looks like the kind of raw talent that would come on a mile in a top class coaching and playing environment. He won't get that at either Connacht or Ireland.
Only problem is we'd lose him to Ireland for every test game.
A non-IQ who's working towards becoming IQ is the best option. Have him all year round cos he cant play for anyone for 3 years... perfect. Just look at Isa and Strauss.

Apart from the Ospreys game with Brad last season. He was obviously off the boil in the game.[Jackass] wrote:BOD has a history of coming into games cold and being as sharp as ever.

McCarthy (and Muldoon) said no to us before, trying to establish what year it was but think it sticking point was he was obviously going to be third or fourth choiceUltra Vires wrote:Personally I'd like to see us getting an Irish second row in - McCarthy would be the man.

I don't think we should be going for a guy like McCarthy. It's pretty much the same as us going for Paul O'Connell, it's not really a feasable move. We should try and unearth our own rather than poaching important first team players from other provinces. Caldwell would be interesting.

Re: Rumour Mill
Well Ror did say a big name, so I wouldn't assume it to be cheap. Also suggested it could be a loan ala Thorn.

Probably best to leave it at that then, young lad in a club got a punch, I'm sure it happened to many if us on nights out when a bit too many pints have been had. No news here, move along.
Re: Rumour Mill
Is Damien Browne injured?
Any word on the rest of our squad injuries. Hopefully SOB and Fitz are back ahead of the HEC back to back games in Dec

Neither Browne nor Denton are injured. This game is only for experience and to give lads who need gametime a lash. Roux might have player but it might be a week to early for him. Perhaps he will be on the bench for Glasgow? Or perhaps he is not going to be playing in the HC so they are building him slowly for a run during the 6N?
AFAIK the only players guaranteed to miss the away game in Clermont are Drico and Rob K
Re: Rumour Mill
Was told at a game in Tullow on sunday that SOB was due to play with their 1st XV that afternoon against Carlow.
They were all rushing off after our game to watch it.
Don't know if it happened though, heard nothing more.
