Dunne & Dusted for the year then? Looks that way. 1 NIQ spot left for emergencies. Bod yet to decide. No OFICIAL word on Flanagan or Goodman.

Inc the 3 of them we are at 41 in the senior squad. Last 2 years we have had 40. Extra one for Bod? Or Flanagan not renewed? Or just no law against having more than 40?
Not any help but....does that mean they
Will wait to see what bod does before they decide?

I'd say our 5th province Rotherham will sign him.

London Irish seem to be hoarding unwanted provincial players so hopefully he'd find a place in the prem

He needs gametime, a year or two in england might be the making of him.

O'Donoghue has done really well for himself!! The Australian commentators are always giving him a lot of praise.

I wasn't at the awards last night but apparently there was some talk that there were two players heading for London so logically that would have to mean Flanagan, wouldn't it?

Leaves us with

Cullen
Toner
Denton

McCarthy
Marshall
Roux

OK in terms of numbers. I suppose Leo staying put paid to Flanagan.

Hard to say who the starting line up will be. Cullen McCarthy with Toner on the bench?

We also have the two VERY promising locks; Thornbury and Beirne, who both can easily fill in for Flanagan.

Hate losing players and Flanagan had a few noticeable moments on the field, but he is young and a couple of yrs abroad would serve him well. Ben Marshall has leaped him in the order of merit.

Thornbury is a quality player, but he's got some knee issues from having grown in size and bulk a bit too soon for his joints. Hopefully it'll correct itself over time, but he's not firing on all cylinders until it does.

have a feeling Leo will be used quite sparingly next year, well maybe 50% matches he'll start
if other internationals around I'd rest Leo 50/50 when it comes to HC
but mccarthy will miss half the year with national side

HC home Toner, McCarthy with Leo on bench
HC away (bad weather) Leo, Toner with McCarthy at 6 Roux on bench
Rabo Leo, Toner with Roux on bench

With POC back fit, McCarthy might be available a fair bit. Normally players who aren't in the XV are made available that bit more.

Do you expect POC to remain fit? Unlikely given his record and age
( but then again the number of games he played over the last few seasons will extend his career)

bench means he's released for some gametime if starting locks fit for 2 league games

Yeah. I was going to mention the possibility that it could be POC/Ryan starting, with Henderson covering lock from the bench.

happy days for us but cant see that happening too much until Henderson regularly starts there for Ulster (Joe's first diktat?)

no harm having Mccarthy and Henderson on bench if we've 2 locks with bad injury profiles starting or even a 6-2 split on bench? Reddan and Madigan would cover 9 10 12 15 directly, Kearney can fill in on a wing, most 12s can cover 13

Nottingham have also signed fromer Leinster A lock Neilus Keogh
but lost the wonderfully named Dante Mama
If Flanagan gets lonely their hooker is Joe Duffey :?
