Delighted with new that SO'B is staying.

Well done Sean, you've made a lot of people eat their words and validated the impression that you have always played the game for and with your team-mates.

Speedy recovery, but don't rush it!

AH, he was never going to leave the Farm!! Besides, Toulon is no place for a Tank. They be navy men.

A few rounds of "Sean O'Brien, O'Brien. He crosses the line, the line" in the RDS tomorrow???

How about

"Sean O'Brien, O'Brien.
He signed on the dotted line
Now Toulon are cryin' and cryin'
Sean O'Brien, O'Brien."

Richie McCaw was interviewed on the BBC in the build-up to the Ireland/Scotland match – he was asked about the recently released 'Chasing Great' film [about his build-up to the 2015 RWC] and which players he most enjoys watching as a now-retired player.

The only guy he mentioned was Sean O'Brien. He talked briefly about how it was a different experience watching him as a neutral than preparing for him and 'wondering how I was going to stop this guy'. Some compliment from the greatest forward of all time.

Don't forget that Tommy O'Donnell is much better than him as an openside too.

Of course, these things are a matter of opinion – but I think he's the greatest forward of all time. Certainly the best forward I've ever seen, and probably the best player.

For some reason I always felt that Robin Brooke if not the best, he was always my favourite followed closely by Michael Jones

Funnily enough that's what I was told after I played a year of junior rugby with Karl Jennings.

Really? Fine player, no doubt, but don't even think he was the best Kiwi openside I've ever seen, that would be Michael Jones.

Fair enough. I saw them both over their respective entire careers. Jones was absolutely outstanding, but there's no question in my mind that McCaw was the better of the two.

Yeah McCaw was special.
Ian Kirkpatrick was special too.
Different styles but it would have been interesting to see them play against each other.
JVDF is the only young player I've seen who could conceivably be in that class but it's early days yet.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.
