Shane Jennings retiring.

Re: Shane Jennings retiring.
Yeah, they do a mix in pre-season. Lower reps to build strength and power and higher reps to build mass. Come the main season, they do mainly lower reps just to try to maintain mass and strength amidst the trauma of playing a professional rugby match once a week.

Re: Shane Jennings retiring.
was a featurette on IRFU website on their weight training in Ireland camp and it was all 3 x 3
Leinster featurette up at the moment but its just the exercises not rep range (chinups, military press, pendlay rows, bench press) and thats it for upper body during the season
6-8 reps is strength and mass so my guess thats more suitable for seasoned players pre season, even
would be very interested to see how much hypertrophy/up to 12 reps the academy guys say would do
either way the important thing to remember is anyone who does weights wearing a baseball cap is a tool

There are photos of J-Biebz lifting weights with a hat on but he's topless and I don't want to step on Morf's toes.

God love him there's more meat on a butcher's apron. Does it really say Tossa on his hat? Is it to warn people from a distance?
Re: Shane Jennings retiring.
To be fair you can have less meat than a butcher's apron and still be 'built' - you just can't do it if you're Bieberjohng wrote:God love him there's more meat on a butcher's apron. Does it really say Tossa on his hat? Is it to warn people from a distance?
Edit: Holy sh!t - just noticing that Frampton looks like he's grown an extra set of very fat fingers under each arm....

Re: Shane Jennings retiring.
Wouldn't actually call him that built. He's got a good level of muscle mass on a naturally small frame, he just has an insanely low body fat percentage, making him look really ripped.
Before anyone jumps in, yes, I'm no-one to criticise and would obviously kill to have a body anything like his!

Jennings will be missed. Such a good player with a huge effect on the team whenever he played.
He lost out at international level, but it wasn't the straight selection that was tough, it was that he wasn't put on the bench. He's a guy who can turn games around and would have been immensely valuable to Ireland even without ever having to pick him ahead of Wallace.

Re: Shane Jennings retiring.
Just wanted to come on here and pay tribute to one of the great Leinster players in terms of attitude, performance and dedication. He was a constant thorn in Munster's side over many years, and a lot of Leinster's significant wins against us were when he and BOD were in the team - the two banes on our lives.
A lot of Munster fans admired Shane Jennings hugely and compared him favourably with Quinnie in his particular ability to be an annoying b****x most of the time.
Sorry to see you go Shane? Not really tbh, but you were great. The very best wishes for the future.

A pretty classy touch from Deans it must be said.Has been selected for the barbarians in the England and Ireland games. Well deserved
I was really disappointed for Jenno that he had to end his career watching from the sidelines. It must have eaten away at him a bit
He's gotten awfully fond of that brick

Deans formally applying for the Leinster job then!LeinsterLeader wrote:Has been selected for the barbarians in the England and Ireland games. Well deserved

Well done Shane - a well deserved honour after a disappointing season. I really hoped he would do another year.
