There was talk of a short term deal for a scrum half for the rwc period, but that was pretty much it.

Would love to see the graph for season tickets sales in the wake of this announcement!

Ok, this will probably not happen but.... Pat Lam anyone? I'd be happy out (but can't see the IRFU screwing Connacht that way.... yet)

no spurious votes in favour just good riddance. The increase in ticket sales should cover the pay-off.

Our recruitment is done either ways
But I thought Matt wasn't going anywhere? I'll renew my season ticket now on the basis that I might get to see some rugby next year.

Dreadful - there was a real power struggle with Deans on one side and O'Neill and Nucifora on the other.

All the sh1t from this season will be blamed exclusively on him now. I hope that doesn't paper over the cracks of the real problems.

What excuse will they have next year? Moc gone. Sexton and Isa back.

Dempseys not ready yet, certainly not for head coach. A coaching team of himself and Gibbes would be very high risk. I know Leinster have a successful history of taking punts on coaches I think we'll be looking for someone more proven given how MOC went.... I'd prefer Deans over McKenzie but either of them would be brilliant. I think its really important for leinster to put a coach in whose going to bring back Leinsters values in terms of attacking rugby. It just seems to be in the players and fans DNA and any attempt at playing otherwise doesn't seem to work (similar to Munster but the other way around)

There are a couple of wrinkles left on the player front yet.

Wait until the RWC compo story breaks - good thing no one knows that the 2 million euro the provinces are getting from the IRFU is being split in 4 equal ways no matter if you're contributing one player or half the squa....

Hey, he was the master of excuses himself, so perhaps we'll ring him for advice.

True Leinster have problems and no one is expecting an instant return to success.
However it has become very clear over the last few months that MOC was not the man to solve those problems.
And it's not just all problems. We do have some fine young players as well as plenty of top-class internationals.
I'd say the academy backs in particular were thrilled to hear the news, they might get a chance now.

Whoever the new coach is, as long as he sends his team out to play with some ambition, he'll immediately have the crowd on his side.

Tell the truth, even you weren't looking forward to another season of MOC drudgery at the RDS, were you?

Would never happen but I'd love to see David Knox given a shot. No matter what would happen we'd have an entertaining season next year

Kudos to Leinster Rugby for the very professional way this was handled IMO.
It is not easy to make a decision like that in rugby, as opposed to football. Many of us here believed he was the wrong fit and that this season's league form should speak for itself but after the public bunfight with Schmidt and the IRFU, his position was untenable (as somebody above pointed out)
However, you would not have guessed it from the way Leinster managed the situation and the players continued to publicly defend him. We remain a classy establishment.
Chapeau to Mick Dawson. Hard luck to Matt O'Connor. Seemed like a decent guy but the wrong fit for Leinster.

I would love Jonno Gibbes back in some form or other.

I feel bad for being so giddy about this announcement... but I think this means the journey to European Super Kings can recommence using entertaining but tuff & effective rugby.
