Big drop off in attendances this season for Leinster compared to last year. Average attendance is down over 3,500/game.
I think attendances now seem to reflect the number of people coming through the turnstiles rather than number of tickets sold.

Does anybody know how Season Ticket sales are going? The type of excitement which once surrounded Leinster seems to have moved further west to Connacht. A good performance in Europe next season would re-ignite the excitment.

Ultimately the 'Destination Final' was a success. Nearly 35k with jerseys from every team in the Pro12 spotted.

3 great games in the play offs, It raised the bar for the league. "New" winners this season and last is also great for competition.

Total pro 12 attendance for the season = 1,146,228 (last year 1,160,468)
So for the first time in the Pro12 there is a drop in attendances, about 100 people/game.
The World cup had a big effect I would assume and the early attendances seem to confirm that in comparison to previous years.

I assume its Landsdowne Road next year, based on the assumption Cardiff gets European finals (pro12's turn and thats their biggest stadium)

I'd be surprised if the Welsh even make a bid. They're perfectly happy having that weekend off to play their lords and masters.

If I were the pro12 I'd be looking at Dublin, Rome, Milan, Brussels or Munich/Berlin

The idea of a destination final works well assuming that an Irish team and/or a local team get through. Don't really have an issue with the idea and to some extent what you say is right in terms of the absolute attendance (I know the sponsors are delighted with it too). However, it could have been better - with another weekend that didn't clash with the marathon there may have been 10k more supporters there - easier access next time an more turn up ....... and hopefully the Leinster team too this time.... :(

Couldn't make the game unusually so watched it in Kielys. Bizarrely there were huge roars when Connacht scored including two lads in Leinster shirts beside us who jumped up when Connacht scored a try. Asking people what they were at I was getting "ah its great for Irish rugby" or "you've got to admire them" - it's the same shite that happened back when Munster were top dog - that's what you're dealing with. There's a lot of fickleness in the support base and the only way to keep that base strong is to win.

Cardiff is hosting the Champions League final on June 3rd so there's no chance of Millennium Stadium being available the week before for a rugby match.

I don't know about fickleness. Watching the match even as a diehard Leinster supporter, I couldn't help but admire Connacht's play, while despairing at our "toothlessness (Shaggy). As I predicted on this forum before the game, if we gave them an inch, they would make monkeys of us, as they had done to Munster last November in Thomond - and so it came to pass. Connacht gave us a serious hiding. They laid our failings bare. It is up to us now to learn from the lessons of our defeat, make the necessary corrections and up our own game!!!!!

If it's any consolation, in 2015 Roscrea beat Belvo 18-11 to win the Leinster Schools Senior Cup for the first time ever. This year Belvo had their revenge, beating Roscrea out the gate 31-7. Anything Belvo SCT can do Leinster Rugby can do better, I would hope!!!!!!!!

Would say that Rome is still in the Mix if they are creating a destination final then that gets my vote would much prefer Flaminio rather than the Olympic however nicer location perfect size, will be booking the minute its announced where ever it is !.

We'd have beaten Connacht on that pitch.

God that's so sad loved the walk through the via Borghesie to the ground, great location such a pity  :( !. Parma would be great ?. Got flights, ticket and overnight accommodation beside the ground all in for under 200euros last weekend, don't care too much whose in the final next year am going anyway !, after my experiences in Belfast and Edinburgh !. Met some lads from Zebra giving out their local food and flags before the game fantastic that's what this is becoming ..... Irish, Scots,Welsh and Italians having a party fantastic mix, can't beat it !.
