Dates and kick off times for rounds 1-11 (upto Christmas) will apparently be out this week. An announcement on the final venue will also apparently be made before the season starts - no idea who has bid/not bid.

successive finals in Ireland? will cause a kerfuffle in the other countries, is it because we have 20-25k rugby stadiums?

think they badly need to go back to not predetermining the final

Me too. I think whoever wins during the league phase should be rewarded accordingly.

I agree too. Would like the highest ranked team to have the home advantage. But it's all about the Donal Lunny. Who is willing to put up the most of it. AND who can comply with all the requests from sponsors and Blazeratti.

Only a week to sell the final is a big issue too.

theyre nearly relying on at least one Irish team in the final to fill it no matter where it is

but other than Liberty Stadium (where there may be issues with football fixtures) I cant think of a pro 12 ground or even national union ground outside of Ireland that isnt either less than 10k or more than 50k

The Super 15 final is not in a fixed venue and the travel distances are much greater than in the Pro 12. Their playoffs were played on consecutive weekends. Perhaps the league given its multi-nation make up should be looking South for the way forward rather than at England/France which are both one nation leagues.

PS It would be nice to actually get some fixtures, Monday (20th) at the latest is what @simonrug - the Welsh sports journalist was saying this week.

Parc Y Scarlets is 15k, and the Arms Park is about 13k. Both still probably too small though.

Thought Arms Park a bit lower but youre right

Scarlets ground would do if they got a home knockout game, not the handiest place to get to either (4 hour drive from Holyhead, 90 minute train from Cardiff, even Rosslare to Pembroke is 4 hours) and dont think the locals would buy up tickets expecting/hoping theyd make a final like Ulster, Munster or Leinster fans would

The previous seasons winner should be awarded the hosting of the following final.
That way tickets and promo's can be arranged in advance, plus its a big bonus to play for.

Preselected grounds don't mean a home finalist, this season was an example

Interesting the Munster match is listed as being in the RDS. A mistake or (more probably) will we be looking to play 2 of the European pool games in Landsdowne?

Are we becoming a Friday night home team again? A Friday night at home to Ulster in November is a little odd. Three home games in the last four is a nice change from last season.

at a quick glance weve a nice set of fixtures overall during 6n window

during RWC should win all the home games and Treviso, Scarlets and Edinburgh away when its respective 2nd XVs are annoying as home youd say win or 1st xv v 1st xv youd say win

For the first time in quite a while I can make both of the Scottish games. Yay.

Just to get in early, if anyone has a spare for the Munster game at Crimbo could they let me know?
