Why so? The GAA people he knew didnt like losing him to other sports, therefore that's not the sport he wanted to play? And you don't understand why he turned rugby down for AFL and yet my explanation doesn't tally?
It makes perfect sense and you can trust me on it.

In place of an 8k a year offer for the academy? Absolutely!hugonaut wrote:I never completely understood why he took up the AFL offer ahead of the Leinster offer – money, adventure, the attraction of being wanted by a team on the other side of the world?
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Heard Brendan Macken signed for Leicester, but I haven't seen it confirmed online. Anyone hear if that is true?

It'd be risky for him to be signed by MOC when he's hanging on by a thread.

Yes they are Leinster exiles but 2 of them are NIQ and a third is effectively so until after the WC at least.

not sure what their IQ status has to do with them being leinster exiles.johng wrote:So what?mildlyinterested wrote:so?johng wrote:Yes they are Leinster exiles but 2 of them are NIQ and a third is effectively so until after the WC at least.
Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
Cool. Didn't know there were strict rules on such things. I just thought it was interesting.mildlyinterested wrote:not sure what their IQ status has to do with them being leinster exiles.johng wrote:So what?mildlyinterested wrote:

They were produced here. Jimmy Gopperth is an exile too.

Lads , have we reached a new low in anorak wearing, when we are looking up Wikipedia and arguing about population on the banks of the river Shannon in Athlone.
The season can't come quick enough on this basis.

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
I get where he's going with the observation...
However, a major mitigating factor in Madigan's departure was the emergence of TWO good young outhalves, which meant it didn't matter that Sexton starts only a couple of non-interpro Pro14 games.
We've now had one of them gouged off us by the vampire squid.
It really shouldn't have happened like this and so quickly but let's hope this latest exsanguination creates an opportunity that is taken by one of the academy players.

They were promising but burst through ahead of others after he left.
I don't think they were much of a factor in his decision.

I had to go back a few pages to see what you were on about.
Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
We went into that season with Sexton and Marsh as senior outhalves. Crosbie was released, and I'd say they were a factor there.
This year Marsh has been released even though there is some depth issues so we obviously intend to promote Frawley and/or Byrne.

Yeah, but Madigan didn't leave because of Byrne/Carbery.ronk wrote:We went into that season with Sexton and Marsh as senior outhalves. Crosbie was released, and I'd say they were a factor there.
