Because they fixate on the top 6 or the top 7 in league placings rather than the simple formula that mr Molloy quoted. "Top team from each country, then the next 3 by place"

No. They have to finish ahead of the 2nd place in ALL OTHER COUNTRIES. Not ANOTHER country.

The only way you could do that in 7th place would be if ALL 4 COUNTRIES had a team ahead of you.

That's what I meant - finish 7th but ahead of the second team from all of : Wales, Scotland and Italy
