Re: Zebre v Leinster Sun 28 Feb
Zebre have the better fly half..
On a serious note would it not be a good idea to try and get Mckinley back in Leinster next season? With Madigan departing we are seriously short at fly half.

The chap has played precisely zero minutes of rugby at outhalf at this level since his return. Lets actually see him play before we start him for the Lions in 2017!cwebber82 wrote:Zebre have the better fly half..

Not sure why he would want to come back tbh. He's set himself up for a new life with a family in Italy. If things go well for him there he could have a shot at playing regular rugby there rather than battling it out with the likes of Marsh and Byrne here.
And if things go really well there he could be in line for an international call up under Conor O'Shea.

That is great news. Well done to him. I will have the kids watching as it is a great story. It is unfortunate that we will have to kick them up and down the pitch.curates_egg wrote:Holy cr@p! He has been in outstanding form for Viadana apparently...but he was only called into the Zebre squad this week (he played for Viadana at the weekend). Will be a big ask for him.simonokeeffe wrote: 10 Ian McKinley

I agree with you about over-hyping him but he did actually play 34 minutes for Zebre against the Scarlets during the World Cup.Dave Cahill wrote:cwebber82 wrote:Zebre have the better fly half..

Can we really trust this as a source though? You know Limecat is easily confused when it comes to rugby positions!Dave Cahill wrote:Yep, I did, he came on at full back - I think limey posted about it too - will try to find it so at least if I'm going mad, I'll have company!

What??? Ringrose, Byrne, McGrath to name just three starting on Sunday are at least the equivalent in both demonstrated raw talent and indications of an ability to deliver on that potential as the forwards.goreyguy wrote:simonokeeffe wrote:theres 7 academy produced backs 25 and under in the panel, so we cangoreyguy wrote:Oldest forward on the pitch is dippy at 25
if we could produce backs like we could forwards...
Not at the level we have produced forwards recently.. which is fairly undisputable.
As i said there is signs this may be changing but recent record is poor.

Makes sense not to risk him I suppose with the Ospreys and Glasgow to come.Leinster Rugby Head Coach Leo Cullen confirmed that it was an ankle issue for the Leinster number eight and that it had arisen during training yesterday.
However Cullen also confirmed that it was not a serious issue and that he expects the Old Belvedere clubman to be back available for next weekend's game against the Ospreys in the RDS Arena.
With Jordi Murphy promoted from the bench to start at number eight, Peadar Timmins will now take Murphy's spot amongst the replacements. Leinster A captain Timmins made his debut against the Newport Gwent Dragons in January.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014
