We've had a good history of getting AIL players medals this decade. Fanj with the Pro12 medal, and Simon Shawe (remember him?) getting a HC winners medal (http://www.irishdentist.ie/heineken-cup ... dentistry/)

All the best to Fanj, he always put his all in, and I'm sure the same application in the business world will see him go far.

Any chance he'll get a farewell at half time at the next home match?

Best of luck to a lad who made the most out of what he had. Never fashionable- but always reliable. I'd be delighted if he got a chance to say a real goodbye.

He made the most out of what he had and you can't ask more than that. Fair focks to Fanj and best of luck with the new venture.

I presume there'll be a ST discount...

Surprisingly good try-scoring record. Average but an AIL man who did a job.

Never let us down, did a great job over two seasons, plenty of good performances under MOC where he used his strength and size to our advantage. Always good to see an AIL player step up. Best of luck in the future.

This is the quote that needs to represent this thread; the rest of you can edit your posts accordingly.
You could not have asked for more from Fanning. Thankfully, it seems playing for the team truly was a reward in itself for him. What a positive attitude.

If I ever get round to compiling an unsung heroes team, he will be on there in indelible ink. Damian Browne (who never got a thread or so much as a goodbye from Leinster Rugby, as far as I saw) is my captain in case you are asking: think he retired last season at Oyonnax.

As honest and hard working a pro as you'll see. All the best ginger lomu.

Even without Fanj's heartwarming backstory it's been a pleasure to watch his dedication to the blue jersey.

Yep, its a great story. And seems to have been a really popular guy within the squad too. Never gave less then his best.

Was always a fan of his. Would loved to have seen him play for Leinster under different tactics.
I will (hopefully) continue to enjoy his work - Burrito in a Bowl!
