Re: Academy 2016/2017
Paul Boyle should be another player leinster think about converting to hooker.
Tom De Jongh/Barry Fitzpatrick too potentially.

Re: Academy 2016/2017
Boyle would be a good, tall hooker. Not sure about de Jongh, he seems to have a smaller frame.

I'd say De Jongh could carry the bulk required to be a hooker, would have been worth exploring at least.neiliog93 wrote:Boyle would be a good, tall hooker. Not sure about de Jongh, he seems to have a smaller frame.
Unfortunately It's unlikely to happen now same with Boyle.

Re: Academy 2016/2017
What's the deal with David O'Connor? Was there some sort of link with Ulster but is he back with Leinster now? I'd like to see him come through as a smash-em 6 now that Ryan's gone

interesting, might be the better move for him as he was well down the depth chart here.simonokeeffe wrote:via The Loose Head on twitter

Re: Academy 2016/2017
Of the rumoured players joining the academy next season:
Ronan Kelleher(Sub-Hooker) - standout forward for me, think he he was if not 100% in his lineout very close. Strong carrier and good at breakdown. Maybe needs to be a bit more aware but promising for a u19.
Oisin Dowling(Second Row) - thought he called a good lineout and won his fair share of ball there, had a few poor handling errors. But overall decent.
Gavin Mullin(Centre) - had a lovely pass to set up second try, was a bit disjointed in defence, trucked up a lot of ball. Was decent.
Jack Kelly(Fullback/Wing) - had a very promising start to the game carrying the ball, but after injury forced him out to the wing he was quiet.
Thought of the other Leinster players Ciaran Frawley(Centre) was the standout.
Leinster players in 23:
3. Charlie Connolly
5. Oisin Dowling
7. Paul Boyle
10. Conor Dean
12. Ciaran Frawley
13. Gavin Mullin
15. Jack Kelly
16. Ronan Kelleher
17. Greg McGrath
19. Jack Regan

*sigh* we're really struggling to retain our back-three prospects, let alone develop them.simonokeeffe wrote:via The Loose Head on twitter

This is the U20 version of the tour from hell. Any lads that make it to pro out of this group will be stronger for the experience.mildlyinterested wrote:Cormac Daly, Leinster u19 second row called up to Ireland u20 squad.

Want to give any clues about who is moving?
I know Regan is headed to the Ulster Academy so he is obviously leaving UCD.
If Frawley is joining Connacht, then presumably he is leaving for a connacht club.
Duggan possibly moving to a 1A club?

Re: Academy 2016/2017
u20 interpros apparently not coming back this year, same structure as last season.
Poor decision, hopefully Leinster field a largely u20 side.
