It would be extraordinary if Ryan got an Ireland cap before a provincial one, but he is supposedly an extraordinary talent.

It would put him right up there with Michael Bent!

Ruddock no, he had 3 starts for Leinster before his first Ireland cap

Ryan would have multiple caps if he didn't get injured at an unfortunate time.

The Porter talk is incredible if it actually exists, the lad has clear potential but hasn't even played one full game at tighthead for Leinster.

What harm could it do? He's more experienced than a lot of England's squad for Argentina.

I don't think it would do him any harm per se but the question is whether he's earned it (and I'm a huge fan or Porter). Not sure on the England squad comment, which England players selected have played less than one game in the position in which they've been picked?

To select Porter ahead of Bent, Bealham or Ryan would be a bit mad.

I get your point about Porter FG so I'm not being flippant when I say this but your point about him not playing a full game makes me wonder, how many pro props under the age of about 26 have never played 80 minutes?

Not if he is going as an apprentice ala Jordie Barrett with NZ.

Prolonged time working with Feek would be great.

Barrett was taken as a non playing extra though. Slightly different scenario. If he were really going as an apprentice it would be along with Bent, Bealham and Ryan in an non playing role (assuming they're taking 3 THs).
I agree though it would be great for him to get the experience and work with the senior coaches.

Noticed that last year Leinster had 3 under-18 international loosehead props, all three have moved to hooker.

I reckon the props will be

Healy, Kilcoyne

Ryan, Bealham and Bent as he can cover L/H in an emergency.

I'd prefer either Dooley or Cronin to Kilcoyne who can't/won't scrummage.

a senior contract player playing for another province's development, has maybe never happened before.. they are clearing trying to get him gametime before he goes on the tour.

No other reason to get him some gametime.
