This is a good blogpost on the money (or lack thereof) in the english prem.
Wasps lost £3.8m in 2015-2016 season.
Only Exeter and Saints turned small profits in 2015-2016

You do have to wonder have the RFU noted the issues the French team now has due to the amount of foreign players in the Top 14. It'll be intresting to see how they handle the PRL trying to make the league into an economic free for all.

Yeah Wasps are heavily indebted. They got the Ricoh and facilities for a steal but shock horror the rugby team aren't profitable. Re-financing in itself isn't an issue, in fact it's fairly normal but the terms will be an indicator of how much of a risk they're seen as.

The RFU already have a pretty sweet deal with PRL. Aside from having good access to the players they also incentivize EQ players in the matchday 23s as part of their deal.

Losing money isn't necessarily that big a deal so long as you have the financial support there to manage it. Most sugar daddies know they won't be making money from a rugby team so it isn't that much of an issue. Best way to think of it is that the IRFU are our sugar daddy. They pick up the tab for some of our expenditure and pump funds our way too. I doubt Leinster would be able to maintain the squad it has and turn a profit at the same time either.

The big difference is that the IRFUs reason for being is the game in Ireland. So they aren't going anywhere. A sugar daddy in England or France is somewhat different obviously.

The Nigels will spout any bolloxology to keep their boat afloat (Must be where the Brexiteers got it....). Many of the Premiership clubs e.g. Wasps are living way beyond their means. Hopefully the day of financial reckoning is near.

Their owner has the Ricoh. Not the same thing. But in fairness (as with Saracens and Bath) he can afford a loss- of reasonable proportions.

I remember it being used against the Pro12 teams as a reason why they had a disadvantage in the Heino Cup. Then when Munster and then Leinster started winning, it changed from a disadvantage to an advantage
The relegation and promotion is a bit of a farce with most of the teams in the championship not even being eligible for promotion. Only 15 teams have played in the premiership.

The sport that unites Catholic, Protestant and dissenter has had its day of days. Pity anybody who can't enjoy it. Some day.

Glasgow losing 17-19 to Montpelier with a man in the bin to be in the 2nd half. They were completely on top until the hooker gave away a daft card. Should have got red when he came back on the field for collapsing the maul but Grey got the blame.

A Glasgow win is a better result for us. I’m not sure they’ll do it into a strong wind in the second half.

Anything for Montpelier is bad for us. They've 3pts. 5pts puts them right back in it.

I can’t see Glasgow winning next week so we need them to step up tonight.

Glasgow no.2 should be docked his match fee for this game. Glasgow were in total control before his idiotic barge into Picamoles. 17-5 to 17 -26 inside 25 mins

Five points to Montpellier is not good. Home crowd booing the ref are deluded.

Big win for Mont. Right back in this group now.

If Exeter win we could end the weekend with Exeter 12, Leinster 10/11 and Mont 8.

If we win we could be on Leinster 14, Exeter 9/10, Mont 8, with two home games to come for us.

Huge game on Sunday!

Montpellier did what they had to do, but Glasgow were really disappointing. Well on top and then brainless indiscipline basically loses the game for them. They get away with a lot of stuff in the league that just won't work at this level.

Decent first 20 or so minutes- cruising along nicely.
Idiotic YC by Turner- mass panic in the ranks- even worse (as in more brain deadly stupid) YC from Johnny. We go completely missing for the mid 40mins of the game.
Turn up (ish) for the last 20 but every time we look like doing anything remotely sensible we drop the ball.
Then we run out of subs so finish with a winger coming off and a back row coming on.

Normally I quite rate tonight's referee but some very dodgy decisions going on- not sure if they were correct or not or down to him or TMO or what.

Despite this we had more than enough to chances and half chances to win.

No one else to blame but ourselves- simply not good enough (to state the obvious).

Not sure it came across on TV but I can't remember it being so cold in Scotstoun before. Absolutely baltic doesn't begin to describe it!

i feel you pain - I fvkin hate both being cold and seeing dropped balls in promising positions.
