Hi guys,
The Scarlets have signed former Ireland under 20's lock Tadgh Beirne who I believe is on Leinster's books.
I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some information on what he is like as a player and whether he is up to it?
Thank you
Tadgh Beirne

Re: Tadgh Beirne
Welcome
He had already been released by us and was fairly far down the pecking order, maybe 6th or 7th choice, a similar profiled player Gavin Thornbury was kept ahead of him

Tadgh is a serious competitor who has had a tough transition (due to injuries) from his days in Leinster Academy through to our Senior Squad. A quality forward, possibly not quite tall enough to be a main jumper, but a very genuine THL with good ball skills and an excellent mauler who will suit your style of play.
He's a good signing for Scarlets.

I'd echo what RTB said. He's tough and has a great workrate, only real problem is that he's not very big for a second row, but he's a fine player and I suspect he'll do a very good job for you at Pro12 level. I wouldn't concern yourself with the fact that we released him, we're well stocked in the second row now.
