Balls, that ain't good.
I wonder might they push J Sex to get him onto the bench. Going into a big Euro tie with Byrne our only 10 is risky.

Reid and Isa are fine as backup 10s against nh. I'd back our pack to "take them to the woodshead" for the 4 points that we need next week. Sexto for the Munster game.

Irish pack + trigga last week. Mickey Mac or Molony could step in this week. Rotate a few fromt rows.

Yeesh I don't think I'd like to see either of those play for an extended period of time. I have Vietnam style flashbacks of Nacewa when he first came over playing 10, and Reid is injured too isn't he?

Because 2008 isa with zero experience of nh rugby is the exact same as 8 years ago?

Well Isa was actually playing 10 back then for Auckland, he hasn't played 10 for us in years, bar stepping in for a few mins.

Isa anywhere outside the tight 5 for me. Isa 2016 brain and experience in Leinster means that he can slot in.

How many times has he played scrum half in his career? And how did he go when he had to step in?

The form our pack is in we could carry Eddie Hekenui at outhalf, and thats without taking Henrose into account

Fanning in Sindo suggesting that Carbery has ankle syndomiosis (?) of his right foot and could be 5/6 weeks. Would love to see Jonno demand to be put in next week with guarantee of 3 weeks break at Christmas.

A win next Sat in Aviva would put us in great shape for the new year. How we cope with those games over Christmas and New Year looks less significant than getting a win next weekend

High ankle sprain, to you and me. Not serious but needs to recover. Sounds unlikely to be ok to play on in a week.

Not that I'm happy about it, but I'm excited about seeing Ross Byrne again next week. I said during the summer that it was borderline negligent not to bring in another outhalf but with the team going well, being pretty much full strength across the rest of the team, with him doing well on Friday, and with the trouble Northampton are in, I'm feeling good about it.

Distinctly not with you on this one@LRPH. There's an enormous difference between taking advantage of an inexperienced guy who comes off the bench during a game and planning to target an inexperienced guy for an entire week on the paddock.

Saints will have spent the weekend pulling apart the defensive positioning of everybody with the surname Byrne on the Leinster Squad and will do their damndest to target any flaws they find.

Sure, but what makes you think they can manage it? Three years ago they were a good side who let themselves down in the first game and were more like themselves the following week. Famous last words but this week I think they're a rabble. Without even talking about the rugby elements of their performance, look at Wood's obvious disdain at being taken off, Hartley's red, the late yellow, the abuse from their own fans, Mallinder's interview where he seemed at a loss and to have given up, and a lot of fans want him gone.

The scrum looks like being tougher for us this week I'd still expect our pack to be well on top in most aspects of the game. The competition is such that I can't see us under performing up front and that will have a huge knock on effect for Byrne. I think it'll take time for Ross to really thrive at this level but given the strength of the rest of our side, the form of Northampton, and the display he put it on Friday, I'm just not worried about him.

I wouldn't be feeling so good about it if we were travelling to Montpellier or Castres this weekend.

Sure maybe they'll just name Sexton to start and then pull him on the day. Wouldn't be the first time.

Just heard on the radio that Carbery is to visit a specialist today to see if he needs an operation.

Are you suggesting we should mess with their heads and play Brian Byrne at OH?
