The province released a statement yesterday confirming Warwick's departure, saying the 29-year-old was offered "terms that Munster are unable to match". The Australian, one of Munster's non-Irish qualified players, is believed to have agreed to join Stade Francais on a three-year deal.

Munster have suffered a major blow with confirmation that Paul Warwick will leave the province at the end of the season.

The versatile Australian, who has made 80 appearances in red at either fullback or fly-half, is yet to confirm his destination but it is understood that Munster were fielding big money offers for his services from other European teams.

Anyone posting that Warrick left for family reasons clearly should not be in the possession of a keyboard for their own safety. Only joking Dave! But I'm also entitled to my opinion on him as a player. He was absolutely a liability in defence and he made ROG look like terminator when it came to tackling.

I like Warrick as a player. Had nice skills and a decent running game from 10. And he always seemed to have a bit of a shocker against us. Win win.

Missed tackle on Lukey Fitz in '09 semi-final was pretty inexcusable. Intelligent player and excellent kicker though.

I liked Warwick but he was flakey, so would have thought he was exactly the type of player you didn't like Dave?

Not true at all; a very good player in most positions beyond SH. We'd have welcomed him even in our days of backline riches.

I'm not sure where this thing about him being flakey has come from, he was a really good 5/8, a pretty good full back and even gave scrum half a go when asked - and that was Warwick, the ultimate team guy. He was your classic Aussie 5/8 - good pace, great hands, big boot. He was to Munster and Connacht what Shaun Berne or Christian Warner was to us, a guy who could be counted on in a miserable night in Netherdale or Rodney Parade as well as knowing the right knife and fork to use at the top European table. If he hadn't played sevens for Aus I have no doubt that he would have picked up a decent number of Irish caps (ironically probably at the expense of Paddy Wallace who was a very similar kind of player)

Yeah in fairness to him he was better than Warner or Berne (both of whom I liked for Leinster).

I clearly didn't watch every Munster game but sometimes he would be the best player on the pitch for them by a long way, and sometimes he would disappear. He didn't always look interested in tackling either. So that is why I considered him a bit flakey.
But I also thought he was a cracking player. Exactly the type of player I like watching: one who can make something happen and is not afraid to take a risk.
He was electric in their quarter final before Croker and was at the heart of almost everything good for them: he built them nicely up for a fall. Was also probably Earls' best ever game at 13. Those galacticos flattered to deceive.
