You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

What a great day that was. Some comeback from 6-15 down early in the second half to leading 24-15 until they got a try in the last seconds and all with 14 men. One of Nathan Spooner's finest moments in the Leinster jersey. We had a great first XV at the time but completely lacked anything like the kind of depth we have now.

Dempsey, D'Arcy, O'Driscoll, Horgan, Hickie, Spooner, O'Meara; Corrigan (c), Byrne, Wallace, Cullen, O'Kelly, Miller, Gleeson, Costello with Bob Casey coming off the bench.

Trevor Brennan belting out the ballads on the steps of the West Lower.

Won out first fifteen games that season in the Celtic League and Europe, then got hammered over in Toulouse in the final group game with Drico at 10 having had to play a thrice re-arranged fixture with Newcastle only four days previously. Five wins in the group and the "reward" was a trip to Leicester in the quarter-final a week after the hammering by Toulouse. They bullied us up front for a fairly comfortable win and the season ended before the 6N.

I watched the match in a pub in Cork. Great day out.
