Doesn't look good. If he pleads guilt and they take into account previous good behaviour he might be back before Sean Cronin.

Yeah I'm normally critical of guys who pit themselves in these situations, but I really have a hard time finding intent in that from Triggs. If I remember there was a bit of niggle from White and Triggs responded. From the gif, it's a push in the face that ends up with his fingers at the guys eyes. I really doubt there was anything more to it but those kind of images don't help much.

Given we're a bit short on lock partners for Dev and Haydon was going so well, it's a bit of a pisser.

Intent isn't really the issue though. It'll be deemed reckless. George Earle of Cardiff got 8 weeks for something similar but he pleaded not guilty.

Agree Cormac. With citing, it's guilty until proven not quite as guilty.

Hard to judge it without the clip that BlueStreak is talking about. But based on the gif that's on the previous page and the still I would agree that it was reckless but not intentional. But I'd have it on the bad side of reckless if that makes sense, deserves a fairly long ban and possibly a VERY long one if there's worse footage.

Cannot see much there myself. He placed his hand towards the chin and a push created the motion by which the hand moved up to cover the eyes. No foul play there at all; should be acquitted.

Is the lower level sanction for "contact with eyes" up to 12 weeks and not a minimum of 12 weeks

He did plead guilty. Sanctioned 4 weeks but in view of guilty plea and good record it was reduced by one week to three.

Not sure how this works but the decision says he is free to play again on Monday 20 February which is four and half weeks away.

Have they worked out our next three first team games and then calculated three weeks accordingly?

Best result probably. Frustrating lack of citing to White. Any strike to the head is an automatic citing. You'd have to think the citing guy had a good look at the triggs situation. Clear elbow to the head.

A still (the gif) is 1 over 32 (0.03125) seconds long (maximum). How much damage could a moving hand do in that space of time - Very little I would say.
So is there a sequence of gifs before and after the gif in question.
We don't know so it's very difficult to make any realistic judgement.
The outcome of the hearing is a very good one for Triggs and Leinster.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Didn't something like that happen with Healy. If there is no league game due to internationals that week doesn't count.

That was overturned because they had made a special rule for Irish players up making the suspension start after the next league game so it was announced that he would be released to Leinster to start against Zebre or something. The disciplinary panel revised its judgment.
