at risk of jinxing it, I was right and the scrums could/should be a massacre
Sounds like Scotland v Ireland levels of dominance there. Thank fock we are at home.....

Jack Cosgrove can tell his grandkids that he propped against Mike Ross.

you can say that again

didnt Jack Cosgrove used to be president or something?

somewhat oddly I'd fancy more out and out obliteration when Bent is on, Ross far more solid but rarely punishes people, legally or not Bent is better at twisting the knife

He's young enough that, before he retires from playing, he'll possibly be able to tell Rossy's grandkids, that he remembers playing against their grandad!

Match Preview

Italy was a happy hunting ground for Leinster and Ireland last weekend as they both strolled to wins, scoring fifteen tries between them. True, Italian rugby is in a truly dire state and poor Conor O'Shea has a hell of a job ahead of him but both teams showed the appropriate ruthlessness and moved on. It's only a five day-gap between Leinster's match tomorrow at home to Edinburgh so there's a bit of a demand on the squad.

We're being made to work for this one.
Some serious goal line defence there. Tracy and Leavy playing well.

Carbery is so lively, completely different player to Ross Byrne. Tries to do too much at times though.

Luke McGrath has been awful.

Could very easily lose this. No shape at all because of injuries. Halfbacks not playing well and forwards not getting us into it at all. Scrum is in trouble too.

Very lucky to be ahead at half time - awful from the winger, the poor chap.

Leavy is playing like a man possessed. Huge performance off the bench.

VDF looking like he'll be out for a while. Shoulder or collarbone. Anyone see what happened to O'Loughlin?

Dan Leavy was class tonight, as he tends to be. I always think he's really unfortunate to miss out on the 23 when it comes to the Champo Cup games.
JGP put in a really good shift when he came on. Very nice passing from him. Think he gave the last pass for 3 of our tries.
Massive credit to Tracey who has improved his lineout throwing something else. I think we only lost the last one (and had one reversed for time wasting), and hard to tell who was at fault.

Not looking forward to reading the injury update from this game. Hopefully it's not so bad

Bent is one of our best imports. Makes a huge difference everytime he plays. Thought Reid was excellent tonight, like someone installed a bit of dog. Poor Mike mac must have been cursing when he saw jdvf go off, it's been a while since he's put in 80 especially impressive considering how much we mauled in the 2nd half.
Fair play to the coaches though for shifting the emphasis. Kicking game in the 2nd half was much better.

Not this shite again.

Yes, his first half was. Poor kicking, passing, messing around at back of the ruck.
Played well in the 2nd when he didn't have to box kick or pass from the ruck.

Both halfbacks were sh*te in the first half. Really poor decision making and direction. Kicking was brutal. When they got a sniff, they tried to force things. Much improved second half which was largely down to the ball suddenly appearing on a silver platter after the pack had utterly demolished the opposition.

Real performance of the night was whatever was said at half time to focus the minds and get everyone playing off the same page.

Wouldn't particularly blame the halfbacks for the first half. Thought we just gave the ball away too cheaply and it was a problem throughout the whole side really. Two standout moments were the knock on from the restart (didnt catch who that was) and then going for the Hollywood play from the lineout and just kicking it away after we had done amazingly well to hold them out for so long.

Outstanding defence though and a brilliant second half. To play with that kind of cohesion after being messed up so badly by injuries was very very impressive. Another huge game from Conan and Leavy was a man on a mission. Thought all of the backs were brilliant in the second half.

The coaches deserve a lot of credit for putting that mess together at half time.
