Only saying that as hes not on our list of renewals but just like Ryan these (IRFU) decisions would have been made last November or soRuckedtobits wrote:Wouldn't have thought so @sok, given the progress of Scannell and the prospects emerging elsewhere including Treacy, McCartney, Heffernan, Herring and even Marshall.simonokeeffe wrote:Croninto be bumped up to central surely
So we can blame MOC then?Dave Cahill wrote:The word is that Cronin and McFadden both got on the last carriage of the three year contract train two years ago
Blame MOC for what exactly...keeping 2 quality playerssimonokeeffe wrote:So we can blame MOC then?Dave Cahill wrote:The word is that Cronin and McFadden both got on the last carriage of the three year contract train two years ago
That's a reasonable squad but there could be room for one more (which means we won't sign one).goreyguy wrote:Not sure what is happening with thornbury, would be surprised now if he signed with leinster.Ruckedtobits wrote:Based on recent selections, but with no immediate memory of original contract terms, a little surprise at inclusion of Nagle AND Kearney. With Ryan's return expectedand possible return from NZ of our former Academy player, I would have thought this would be a choice of one of them.
Locks for next season:
Scott Fardy
Devin Toner
Ian Nagle
Mick Kearney
Ross Molony
James Ryan
The contract runs until after the World Cup...LeRouxIsPHat wrote:http://www.irishrugby.ie/news/36936.php#.WOTK_caCOK0Dave Cahill wrote:I'd say its accurate because it came out in a piece that was published shortly after the IRFU started getting criticised over Ryan wanting to play anywhere but Munster. The list of names have the finger prints of Browne all over them
Edit: it was the complete set that Thornley had, for the entire four (three actually as no connacht players are centrally contracted) provinces - which in itself is weird, as no journalist has ever put such a list together before. Its like the provinces publishing their accounts publically the year that Eamon Ryan had his broadcasting thingy
If you read that it's very careful not to say who the contract is with.
Someone in LR told me about the above so pretty confident about it.

I think it's fair to assume most if not all of the playes who signed a contract in 2016, signed a 2 year deal and are up next season.johng wrote:Good info there GG. Well presented as to when contracts signed. Undoubtedly some of those signed this year got longer than a year's contract. It will become clearer in the future
44 man senior squad. A bit bigger than we normally have.

Sure. 4 year deals are rare and they can't have got 1 year or they would be gone. So 2 with the exceptional 3 would be logical.goreyguy wrote:I think it's fair to assume most if not all of the playes who signed a contract in 2016, signed a 2 year deal and are up next season.johng wrote:Good info there GG. Plenty of talk about Dardis but none about the above three who, along with Dardis, Byrne and Daly were promoted from the academy at the end of last season. They surely would've nailed these guys down to 2 years right?Xanthippe wrote:Plenty of talk about Dardis but none about the above three who, along with Dardis, Byrne and Daly were promoted from the academy at the end of last season.
