It was the inconsistency I hated. He's normally hot on in from the side at maul. At the end of the first half we had a nice maul trundling towards the line and he shouted that Shingler was fine as he hadn't broken his bind ignoring the two in from the sides right in front of him.

The maul he called against Ross Maloney in the second half was completely different to the way he had reffed in LR the week before. We went for a number of chokes in LR and he called tackle only, RM was held for at most 2 seconds before his knee hit the ground and Nigel called maul.

There was another one where a scarletts player blocked the cleaner, the exact same as he penalised Dev for in LR.

The penalty count was against us in a game we dominated. He was just poor.

Sorry to break into the Nigel thread but just watching James Lowe playing against Hurricanes in a torrential downpour. 17-6 at HT for Chiefs.
Lots of niggle and Lowe didn't stand back. He also has a big left boot and was regularly used to exit from 22m area.
Not a natural hard worker and could do with a good lecture from Triggs as to what Leinster want from a Maori.

Anyone else hoping we hang onto Triggs, looked at first like a bit of a journeyman signing but I think he's put his heart and soul in, has been top class and well capable at all levels we need him at and would love to see him stay on. He's the type of old dog pro a team needs, and thrives upon

We're spreading the scoring around a bit but it's dominated by wingers and scrum halves. The latter is especially impressive given how infrequently we tap and go.

Carbery scores a lot too.

Interesting read on the NZ exodus North:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/supe ... um=twitter

"Lowe is just 24 and knocking on the door of national selection"

Lowe was injured for the Chiefs last weekend afaik, didn't play this week although it's minor.

they might push for far more JAB matches to tie more players

That would hit Scotland and us but wouldn't be on the radar for English and French clubs, they don't care so much about producing players for the national team

thats true but it lessens the value of some players and might convince some to get the All Blacks cap even for the sake of it

from a NZ POV theres limited things they can do, might explain why they want Singapore and HK super rugby sides :D

Wouldn't stop Piutau etc.

They should restructure contracts so a chunk of their payment is a loyalty loan / refundable bonus that they only have to pay back if they move to NH without having been cut loose.

For a couple of years Wales have had problems getting a consistent selection across the u20s 6 Nations as a number of players don't want to play against Italy or France as those would be disqualifying games

Youd think their government would go for our tx rebate for players system

Companies can look to recoup training / college fees or costs from employees who don't stay past a certain threshold of time.

Involved 3 times in this: https://twitter.com/JudgeRugby/status/8 ... 5593981952

All 3 times he perfectly times his pass right as he has drawn the defender, and then runs brilliant support lines. Watching the Ospreys game on Saturday one of the most frustrating things was our lads giving early passes which gives the defence time to adjust and drift to cover. I hope he brings this into our culture more.
