What nationality are the three non europeans registered under?

Leaving aside nationality, have any of the three become EU resident? Did Isa get it before he left - was he away long enough to lose it?

On the basis of no research whatsoever. Surely thereare ither teams in the league likely to fall foul of this ruling also?
Are there similar rules in European comps? There used to be in h cup days.

New Zealand isn't a party to the agreement that led to the Kolpak case. Having a cap for a country doesn't make one a national of that country.

So then how has Leinster fielded Fardy, Nacewa & JGP in the same 23?

Maybe Nacewa has a fijian passport along with a NZ passport.

Other than that I don't know, hence the question, if you do know please share your knowledge.

If Nacewa has a fijian passport then he's a moron - because he was travelling on a NZ passport when he was booted from RSA

The rule states 2 non Europeans maximum but does not define what it means by European
Presumably after a player is eligible to play for the international team he counts as European
It may be similar as a designated project player
At a quick perusal of other Irish teams our 3 in 23 is a pretty low ratio

Gibson Park and Lowe are project players

South Africans and Pacific Islanders are considered European.. Australians and new Zealanders are not.

This is from an Indo article around the time the IRFU were putting their NIE rules in place

Other EU cases, such as the recent Zambrano case, in which it was decided that an EU member state may not refuse the non-EU parents of a dependent child who is a citizen of, and resident in, an EU member state the right to live and work in that member state, should also be added to the mix. A number of foreign rugby superstars currently plying their trade on this island have Irish, and therefore, EU-citizen children. Leinster's Isa Nacewa, for example, whose contract expires this summer, falls into this category.

Maybe we know now why Fardy now has an EU citizen in the family

He's been here since the weekend. Anyone seen a photo of him in Leinster kit yet?
A few weeks to bed in before we get to see him.

He is a project player, Maori caps have no effect.
