Night and day. Lacey is grand. Has a few foibles but we know all about them. Is a good ref and as a former winger can keep up with play.

I'd have thought it might take him a good while to even get to Loughman's and Heffernan's level in terms of scrummaging.goreyguy wrote:Porter needs more time at AIL/A level before he plays pro 12.

Whoa! I am all for a bit of ref bashing myself but that might have been a little too much.....riocard911 wrote:Anybody, just as long as it's not FitzMonkey!!!

Plus he's got the type of primate wrong.Lar wrote:Whoa! I am all for a bit of ref bashing myself but that might have been a little too much.....riocard911 wrote:Anybody, just as long as it's not FitzMonkey!!!
A Gibbon is an ape not a monkey.
So yer man should be reffered to as "Fitzape" for example.
I'm sure I corrected posters about this before.
Anyway, carry on.

Pray tell, O Wise One, us poor unfortunates; what is exactly the difference between a monkey and an ape? In German for example there is only the one word - Affe - for both.

In general monkeys have tails, apes don't. Though some monkey species have no tails, no ape species have tails.riocard911 wrote:Pray tell, O Wise One, us poor unfortunates; what is exactly the difference between a monkey and an ape? After that its shoulder structure: apes can swing from branch to branch, in general monkeys cannot, they tend to run along tree branches.

Also, some apes can read far too much into a simple nickname that a chap has had since his schooldays

I believe apes are better at reffing the scrum....Dave Cahill wrote:Also, some apes can read far too much into a simple nickname that a chap has had since his schooldays
Could be wrong.
I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

Still more sensible and genteel than most of the discourse in any Munster related thread

Apart from the anatomical differences there are the temperamental and other differences too.Oldschoolsocks wrote:In general monkeys have tails, apes don't. One can go ape but one does not go monkey.
Apes have featured in a number of blockbuster films and indeed a number of humans have made their fortunes acting the ape.
Monkeys on the other hand only get paid peanuts.
Monkeys it would appear are not too smart, hence the expression "Don't talk to the monkey talk to the organ grinder".
Mind, talking to a monkey and expecting an intelligent response is none too smart in the first place.
Monkeys and clowns are often seen together - apes and clowns not so much.
If by any chance any one has a monkey, make sure to get it off your back asap.
And finally if you have a monkey but don't have his uncle then you don't know what the f^ck is going on.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Can't all us primates just get along?
Gibbons are lesser apes anyway; don't put them in the same category as the great apes.
@riocard - Germans call all primates Affen; what we call great apes are Menschenaffen (man apes), in the great tradition of German compound nouns.
I would fancy a gibbon to make a decent stab of reffing a game to a higher standard than Fitzgibbon.

Re: Ospreys v Leinster Sat 3pm - Live on Sky
apparently Charlie Rock is injured and out for the rest of the season, so with Leinster down to 3 squad 9's, they have at least 1 AIL 9 in this week to train with squad.

Should we not have the team by now? Have they changed the system?
