Was mentioned as being on a comparable timeframe to Dave Kearney in last week's update. Don't really see the point in picking him for this one though.

I think he's gone for the season.

I would want Cronin, Toner, SO'B, Sexton & Carbury playing in this in their S/F positions. Most because they need the game time and Dev and Sean because they need to keep the engine running.

I'd also be inclined to start Cian and believe that he may start against Clermont as their LHPs don't fancy his size and shape. Given him and "Nugget" Cronin a run together against Connacht would make sense.

Looking at Saturday selection Leo could still have decisions in his mind about:

15. Isa or Joey
14. RO'L, Dave K or Ferg
11. Ferg, or Isa
1. Jack or Cian
6. Dan or Josh
16. Strauss or Treacy
18. Ross or Bent
19. Molony, Nagle or Ruddock
20. Ruddock, Leavy or JVdF
22 & 23. See above at 15, 14 & 11.

Lots of decisions and positions still up for grabs. A great place to be....if they get the calls right.

Jack Conan suffered "a bang to the neck" during the Ospreys game and will be monitored during the week, as will Adam Byrne who's recovering from the hamstring injury he picked up against Wasps.

No further injury issues from the game on Saturday. Cronin, Ruddock and Dave Kearney are all fully recovered and available for this Saturday's game.

I'm not sure Neil Paterson would even make the top 3 worst Scottish Pro12 refs. Let's not forget Peter Allan or the Changlengs. And then there's the plenty worse than Paterson from other countries like Fitzgibbon, Wilkinson, McDowell, that Welsh lad with the hairdo.......

Leighton Hodges? Haven't seen him referee a match in a while.

No, wasn't Hodges. James Jones was the Welsh ref whose name had momentarily escaped me. Perma-tanned, lots of hair gel.

Thats fairly weak.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

No Sexton or Ringrose. Probably not worth the risk.

Very pacey backline. With Ruddock and Josh desperate for a start next week (with potentially an opening there if Conan doesn't make it) I'd be expecting them to clean out everything and everyone. If they can manage that. Our backline can make some inroads.

Hope Molony has a good one too. 19 still up for grabs next week

Just noticed no JGP either. Good to see NMcC getting a chance there.

Full bore Connacht selection.
We might struggle to get anything out of this. Whatever we do will be great.
