I think it was always Nigel's gig, irrespective of the teams involved. He has a speaking engagement in Dublin on Friday that's been on the cards for a while. Not sure how these things get set up, but assume he knew he was going to be in town anyway when he booked it.

The thing is that even as an Irish province you'd still take Nigel ahead of any of the others, because most of them are useless. The so-called 'home' refs from Munster (Lacey, Fitzgibbon, Clancy) tend to be quite anti-Leinster in their decisions too.

I wonder if both teams have been practising dumping players on their heads this week? It's allowed now, interesting to see how it changes things tactically.

Nige has decided already that head high challenges are fine.LeRouxIsPHat wrote:I wonder if both teams have been practising dumping players on their heads this week? It's allowed now, interesting to see how it changes things tactically.
So: player welfare is a top priority for everyone in the game.

can you imagine the meltdown in the valleys if that was an Irish player skating on that charge?LeRouxIsPHat wrote:I wonder if both teams have been practising dumping players on their heads this week? It's allowed now, interesting to see how it changes things tactically.

A very shrewd move to throw the game last week, imagine going to a game in this weather?

In 80 successive minutes (2nd half Thomond and then today), Munster have conceded 7 tries against Scarlets.

There's been a very noticeable dip in the levels of vim, vigour, freshness etc of the Irish teams in the last couple of weeks of the season
Look at how flat the Munster lads are compared to Liam Williams (I'm naming him because he endured the 6N but really I could pick any Scarlet)

Based on my extensive knowledge of strength and conditioning I have come to the opinion that Irish players don't play enough Rugby.

Scarlets are really going to miss Liam Williams
Lions/internationals going to be hard on their squad next year plus theyve a vulnerability to injuries
