Tommy looks to have bulked up this year. I think he was in at about 82 last season. Injury layoff and full academy this year probably helping that.

Looking back over the names Aungier is very undersized for a tighthead. Will be interesting to see how this affects this scrum. He's got a reasonably bulky Jack Dunne behind him at least. But the French U20s are normally monsters
wouldn't say Aungier is undersized by Irish standards.

Probably not. I haven't seen much of him in the flesh. But I'd be more comfortable with a tighthead being 119-120. Especially against France

french front row is only huge because of brennan(132kg) looking at the stats.

have to wonder if Kearney's limited height will be a barrier for him and the academy, I wonder if they would relook at moving him to hooker... probably not.

Tommy, O'Brien, Hugh O'Sullivan, Aungier & Kelleher all in the full academy, right?

I wonder how many of Silvester, P. Sullivan, Byrne, Duggan, Daly & Dunne will make it in after this. You would assume Byrne, maybe Silvester, one second row. Maybe that's it without big performances?

Yes.

Yeah, not far wrong.. off the top of my head, I'd say Silvester will, same for H Byrne. At least one second row, if not both.. as I'd rate Daly & Dunne over Dowling. The rest need big performances to force their way in.

Second rows could be competing for one place, which is rough. If one gets away, we could have another Tadhg Beirne on our hands.

room for two in my opinion, wait and see how they perform. Both have serious potential.

For the 20's I was pretty impressed by Harry Byrne at 10, who was Irelands youngest player on the day.
Front 5 went well in the set piece and loose, especially Aungier, Dunne and Kelleher.

Harry Byrne attacked the line in an almost complete opposite way to Ross ha. It was seriously impressive.

Other than that they're both quite similar. Very natural passers and place kickers. Effortless technique.

Aungier stood up very well too. I was impressed.

A lot of players to watch from a Leinster point of view, 4 players already in academy and quite a few hopefuls.

Of particular interest to me is Clarke at hooker and Patterson at scrumhalf.

I'm looking forward to seeing O'Sullivan at 9. Stewart has improved since last year but I'm not convinced.

thought Eoghan Clarke was pretty good at hooker at the weekend, could push for an academy place if he keeps it up.

Jordan Duggan looks a good player but not on the level of recent loosehead props that have been given leinster academy places.

Second rows Jack Dunne/Cormac Daly both look good enough to get an academy place.

Sub academy openside Max Kearney started at 7 and sub academy prop Joe Byrne started at 3.
