Madser probably won't get selected but if he did.....
Playing v Leinster "A" at this point in his career along with Rotherham Titans, Moesley, Ealing Trailfinders etc. Bit of a kick in the nuts. Even with 500 Grand sterling to console himself with.

if he does play we can expect a sludgeheap of articles on how his 2 out of 3 kicks and an intercepted pass gave Joe schmidt a reminder blah blahjohng wrote:Madser probably won't get selected but if he did.....

Jack O'Connell might be flying the flag in that one

Re: Leinster A 2017/2018
It will be interesting to see who is the primary outhalf for the A team next season, Marsh, Frawley or Dean?
Re: Leinster A 2017/2018
Is Marsh going to make it? He's what, 25 now? He's been around long enough that it doesn't seem right to think of him as no more than a contender for the A team number 10 slot. Surely he would be better off moving on if he can't get ahead of Byrne or Carbery?mildlyinterested wrote:It will be interesting to see who is the primary outhalf for the A team next season, Marsh, Frawley or Dean?
Compare to Dominic Ryan. 118 appearances, 18 tries. Age 27. A week never went by without people saying he should move on.
Cathal Marsh. 18 appearances. 1 try. Age 25. Nobody has a concern.

Marsh isn't going to make it quite obviously, but it will be interesting if they continue with him as the A 10 or go with a younger player like Frawley or Dean.CiaranIrl wrote:Is Marsh going to make it? Re: Leinster A 2017/2018
Jimmy O'Brien started a couple of the matches at 10 in last season's comp. I assume he remains an option. Can't see the point of going outside a very large senior+academy squad unless we absolutely have to.
edit: we've a squad of 66 players between senior + academy. I'd argue roughly 30-35 members of the senior squad have no business playing in the B&I Cup games unless they are coming back from long-term injury and need a run out.
Leaves us with a squad of roughly 30-35 players for A matches and I'd only be selecting players outside of that (like Conor Dean) if we're short of numbers through injuries.
Players with no business playing B&I Cup:
Props: McGrath, Healy, Dooley, Furlong, Bent
Hookers: Strauss, Cronin, Tracy
2nd Rows: Toner, Fardy, Molony
Flankers: vd Flier, Leavy, O'Brien, Ruddock, Murphy
No. 8's: Heaslip, Conan
Scrum-halves: McGrath, Gibson-Park
Fly-halves: Sexton, Carbery, Byrne
Centres: Henshaw, Ringrose, Reid, O'Loughlin
Back 3: Byrne, Kearney D, Kearney R, McFadden, Nacewa, Lowe
You could probably argue the toss about some of the other second-rows.

Re: Leinster A 2017/2018
dont see JOB as anything other than injury cover at 10..
almost certain to see some sub academy players involved aswell.

In this instance, I'd definitely prefer that they go with the younger lads. Marsh doesn't seem to be working out.mildlyinterested wrote:
