Leinster v Dragons Fri 7.35 TG4

Post by wixfjord »

Back to the glamour of the league again.

We'll be fairly stretched for this, hopefully will get a few back from Irish camp.

Team might be something like:

Dooley/Byrne, Cronin, Porter/Bent, Molony, Fardy, Leavy, Murphy, Deegan, JGP, Byrne, Lowe, Reid, ROL, Byrne, Larmour

When is Isa back? Could do with a bit of leadership from him in that backline.

Christmas Isa I think.

We could get Ireland squad players who are not in the 23/26 back for the bench.

Switch Lowe and Larmour? Lowe could potentially be playing Champions Cup rugby at 15 in a couple of weeks.

Not if we want to beat Exeter. Wing, possibly. Full-back, a number too high at this point.

If I got it right Exeter were only missing 4 international players today.

Might JS give Adam Byrne a shot against Argentina (maybe from the bench)?
He's been pretty good at giving all the players in his squad a game in the summer tours. Is there anyone else in the November squad that hasn't got a look-in yet (and not due to injury)?

Assume we'll get D Kearney back in that case. Maybe Conan too, unless he's kept as extra backrow cover.

Garry Ringrose is back in training. Expected to return to action this weekend or next.

Injury update also says that Isa might be back and that Ferg, Nagle, and Leavy are all being assessed. We're a bit light in the second and back rows , could do with at least one of those guys back. The rest of the team looks very strong though.

The update also says that Joey has probably broken his wrist and is unlikely to play again this year.

Getting Ringrose, Isa, Ferg, Lowe and potentially DK or Byrne back will give us some experience and depth in the backline.

Good to get a few guys back before Exeter too.

Should we be worried that Lowe wasn't training today?

I wonder if Ireland will call up another outhalf? Only two available for this week but perhaps more importantly Joey won't be playing until the new year and obviously Jackson is unavailable for the foreseeable future so we could probably do with getting another option up to speed.

I assume this year means 2017, not this 2017/218 season, right?

That's the way I took it but the report didn't elaborate any further.

Fractures are usually a straightforward healing process apart from Darce's forearm drama's, oh...and Isa's.
The odds are good but the goods are odd.

Possible selection, with no new knowledge of injury updates:
15. Isa, 14. Byrne, 13. Ringrose, 12. O'Loughlin, 11. Lowe, 10. Byrne, 9. McGrath, 1. Dooley, 2. Cronin, 3. Bent, 4. Fardy 5. Molony, 6. Leavy, 7. Doris, 8. Deegan.

Bench: 16. Byrne, 17. Byrne Ed, 18. Loughman (Porter), 19. Josh Murphy, 20. Timmons, 21. JGP, 22. Marsh, 23. Larmour

It could be very different but its not a bad Squad.

We could of course have Dave K and Jordi back in Leinster by Tuesday, alongside Luke and Adam. We might however have none of the four and Luke might be selected for Bench on Saturday.

Getting Jordi back would be a big help. He's surely not going to be benching or 24th man this weekend.
