Exeter Chiefs v Leinster Sunday 5.30 BT

Post by wixfjord »

Probably the biggest game of the group left. I'd fancy us to win at home, so big chance to set down a marker here.
Exeter are a serious side. They beat Bath 42-29 today, and according to Baxter, "for the first 50 or 60 minutes, we were outstanding and possibly our first-half performance was the best of the season so far."

Slade is a fine player and with Nowell, Woodburn and Short on the wings they've got serious pace along with a beefy pack that loves to maul. But there are lots of guys in our pack in good form at the moment. Could be tight, but I'd back us to grab a win.

I'd go for:
Healy, Tracy, Furlong, Fardy, Toner, Ruddock, SOB, Conan, McGrath, Sexton, Lowe, Henshaw/Isa, Ringrose, Isa/Byrne, RK
McGrath, Cronin, Bent, Nagle, VDF, JGP, Byrne, ROL

Starting Lowe, Henshaw, Ringrose and Isa might be a bit much for Leo, since none have much recent. But that's our best 11-14 imo. Would have no issue with Byrne coming in either.

Roll on the weekend.

Rule 3.7 is interesting too. Which of our 4 niq players count as "European"

Surely there are French clubs who would fall foul of this rule too?

If it's any consolation I don't think you're mad but I'm not qualified to make that judgement either way.
And remember even if you are mad it doesn't mean you're stupid.

I mean ask yourself how many messageboards have their own resident "magic" (It's actually a bit of hi tech gear far beyond the comprehension of mere men) Mirror.
In fairness the Mirror has been fairly quiet of late which is a strong indication that the quality of poster and their input (output?) has improved dramatically.
Posters such as yourself for example.

You know me OS I like to jest. My input has been minimal around here lately. I'm all about the short quips these days....for a change!

Best 1-15 right now. Rob seems in great form.

Donnacha O'Callaghan was in the Sunday Times today talking about Munster V Leicester but quickly moved on to talk about this game. Says that everyone in England is looking forward to it. Apparently, Exeter are everyone's 2nd team over there, kinda like Connacht over here I suppose. His teamates don't rate the Pro14 at all he says, think it is piss poor because we don't have relegation. They think this game will be a test to see where the Pro14 is at.
Well lets fuppin show em!

I also really like Exeter- but I’d love it- love it, if we beat them! (Insert Kevin Keegan meme), For the reasons you outline. We owe the PLR a dig, and it’s Exeter who are unfortunate to be standing in for them.

Really hard game to call
Exeter are impressive and look strong.
Leinster bring their A game to Europe and we have a seriously strong team.
Hoping our bench will make the difference.
I always fancy us away in England and think we will come through with a good win

Whatever about the league in general, I'm sure that we're respected. Looking at our potential 23 for Sandy Park and only the most myopic of fans wouldn't rate us. We should be targeting a win but a lbp whilst denying them a bp would be a reasonable return.
